Fitbit Pay launches on Ionic when opening iOS app

I have 2 recurring issues with Fitbit Pay on my Iconic. Help would be much appreciated

On the watch itself:

1. Occasionally the PIN screen will freeze when trying to access the credit card image (can still get back to the main screen). Can only be fixed by rebooting the watch by holding all 3 buttons down.

2. The card image screen will occasionally open by itself randomly without me pushing the left button.

I have tried reinstalling the credit card but the problems still occur.

Thanks

Can’t help you with Fitbit Pay, as unfortunately it’s not yet supported in the UK, but restarting your Ionic only needs two buttons pressed simultaneously; top right and left held together for about 10secs.

Hi everyone,

I am new here and Ionic is my first Fitbit Product. After going through a lot of online reviews and comparisons on Ionic, VivoActive 3 and Apple Watch 3, I decided to get Ionic because of the Insights provided in the Fitbit App were simpler to understand along with the Sleep Tracking abilities (none on AW3 and No Details on VA3).

Ever since I have added a Credit Card on Fitbit Pay, atleast 2-3 times a day, my watch would vibrate and shows the Credit Card ready to be swiped. This usually happened while I was at my desk. I am confident that the button is not pressed accidentally by pushing against the wrist and happens while I am on bed as well. This is a concern for me as it may accidentally activate itself at a counter without me knowing about it.

1. Does anyone else experience the same issue?

2. Why does Fitbit only allow one card to be activated at once? AW can manage multiple cards and makes it convenient to use the preferred card with each merchant/vendor.

Thanks in advance and have a great day!!!

Since I have installed fitbit pay back on my Ionic after doing a factory reset trying to fix other things, It now wants me to put a PIN code in every time I sync with my IPhone. I have device Lock Enabled (recommended) It seems to work ok on "Enabled for fitbit pay only setting"  but I do prefer the recommended. I then tried to change the pass code and I received message Bluetooth timed out, this happen several times till I gave up. So I have removed the card from wallet and for the 3-4th time so can change the passcode and change device lock settings. BUT as I write this as my phone times out I open up the app again IONIC requires a password again. (device lock on Enabled for fitbit pay only)

Ive restarted watch several times

It just had a factory reset

ive uninstalled and reinstalled wallet

restarted phone

turned Bluetooth on off

any other ideas

Cheers

Hey there @Glennsfit, thanks for stopping by! Thanks for already troubleshooting this inconvenience, nice way to go!

You must enter your PIN code at least once a day. Ionic prompts you to enter your PIN code based on your device lock setting:

  • Enabled: Each time you put your watch on your wrist.
  • Enabled for Fitbit Pay: First time you make a payment after your put your watch back on your wrist.

Note that your card issuer may require you to re-enter your PIN code to authorize a payment.

To change the device lock setting:

  1. On Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your device image.
  2. Tap or click Device Lock.
  3. Tap or click to change your device lock setting.

I'd also recommend doing the following:

  • Restart your Ionic
  • Set up your tracker as a new device

Keep me in the loop!

Thank you for reply, I have done several factory resets and set up as new tracker before, but my issue still persists:( since setting up fibit pay my Ionic asks me to enter my pin every time I use the Fitbit App on my Iphone (after tracker and Iphone has synced stats) so I’m having to put this pin code in 8-10 times a day and the watch has not been taken off my wrist.

cheers

Hi @MarreFitbit I just did another full factory reset and this time I did not install wallet but I did enable a pin code and the problem still occurs, so seems wallet is not the issue. No one else seems to have my issue so I am thinking I have a faulty watch. The issue occurs with both my iPhone 5 and 8 too.

I have been told by tech support that the issue has been sent to the engineering dept so do I have grounds to return/exchange the product as faulty? Is there a new firmware coming soon?

cheers

Hello Glenn

You are not the only one with this issue, I really enjoyed my Ionic till I added Fitbit pay to it.

The main reason I upgraded from my Blaze to the Ionic was for the Fitbit pay function, Due to having to wait for a new debit card to turn up on the new bank account I had to open so I could have Fitbit pay on my smart watch I was able to enjoy the Ionic for nearly a month of problem free usage.

This week I set up the wallet for the first time on my Ionic and that's when every thing has gone to the dog house (Sh*t).

  1. Since I have had Fitbit pay I now get asked to enter a pin all the time,
  2. The payment card just randomly appears without pushing any buttons.
  3. Every time I open the app on my phone the watch asks to enter pin.
  4. I have trouble syncing all the time now keep getting (Looking) on the app when I try to sync.

I have had the app unable to sync to watch on a regulator basis while I have been tracking walks so I am able to keep track of how my daily stats are going till I finish my tracked walk and then have to either do a restart of the watch or in most cases remove the Ionic from the app and re add it which is very annoying as I then have to go thru account and reset everything again.

One thing I will say is I am getting very quick at reconfiguring my Ionic to the app now 😞 .

I have also gone thru so many factory resets it's not funny, I have just about come to the end of my time with Fitbit if I can not get these issues sorted out and about to switch to a new Garmin Vivoactive 3 as it's specs match the Fitbit Ionic and is the same price point.

Cheers

Grant

Thanks Grant, what you have discribed is exactly the same issues I’m having too. I’m also finding myself resetting the Ionic much more often due too the Fitbit unable to find my phone when syncing the app. Get that Looking.. on the app.

Have you tried restarting your Ionic to see if that helps?
