Until yesterday (17 January 2019) my Ionic has been working pretty much perfectly, especially since the last update, a few weeks ago.
Just as I was starting a gym session, I noticed that no heart rate was showing on the display. I started my session, and after maybe five minutes, the heart rate display had returned. All seemed well for the rest of the day. However, when I synched the Fitbit first thing this morning, I noticed that it had recorded my time asleep, but not my sleep stages. And during the course of the morning, the Ionic has been recording everything perfectly well - except heartrate. None of the functions that normally display heartrate are currently showing anything.
I synched the watch, which is currently at 70% of battery charge, with my iPhone at the end of the morning, to see what was recording. The heartrate graphs for activity this morning show one or two very brief moments when activity has been recorded, but mostly the graphs are blank.
I have restarted the watch, checked the sensors are not dirty, and all of the usual things. I am not wearing it in any different way to usual.
Advice please.

Have you checked the setting on the watch to make sure the heart rate sensor want accidently turned off?

Yes, that’s not the problem.
Since posting my question, I have been monitoring the watch carefully. What I get is up to about an hour with no heartrate reading at all, and then the reading suddenly appears - but is always showing 83 bpm, no matter what I’m doing. Activity doesn’t make that reading rise, ampnd resting doesn’t make it fall. Then, at random, the heartrate reading disappears, only to come back again later, still showing 83 bpm.
Looks like a hardware or firmware malfunction to me.
