Fitbit ionic & no notifications- even after factory reset!

Alright. I previously had an Alta that I recently upgraded for an ionic for my birthday. I’ve had the device for 3 days, and for the 1st day I was able to get notifications, but haven’t gotten any since. I’ve read through 10 different forums, the Fitbit “help” article AND talked to a customer service rep (who, by the way, did nothing but walked me through the exact same steps I had already told him I had taken 😒)

I have restarted my device, restarted my phone (and iPhone 7+ completely up to date), turned my Bluetooth on & off, “forgot” the ionic as a device both in my phone and in the Fitbit app. Notifications are all “green” and turned on both in my app & on my ionic. All notifications are allowed in my phone settings. I then did the extreme thing and deleted/redownloaded the Fitbit app and factory reset the device and went through the whole 40 minute setup & syncing process through the app again. Still nothing. I’m super frustrated cause I love everything else about this device and never had an issue with my Alta. Does anyone have answers that aren’t widely posted? It’s driving me crazy.

Just to check and making sure:

1) Is your phone in Do Not Disturb mode? Or in Still mode, without any vibrations? If so the enable at least vibrations, that should work.

2) If you still have this problem, try Force Closing the fitbit app, wait a minute and restart the app. Does this start the notifications again?

3) Use a watchface that shows and warns on Bluetooth connect/disconnect. I use 'Essential Watch', but you could try another, since there are several others like: Step Counter.

This will warn you if you loose BT connection and show how long it will take before reconnect (show in the way that you can see with your eyes if it is connected).

For me this was a problem (took too long), so i found a solution for this:

after disconnect BT, my phone  waits 1 minute, then kills the fitbit app, waits a few seconds and then restarts the app.

If that does start the BT connection again, i also get the notifications again. If not, it will after a minute, again kil the app then start it again. This happens mailnly when i walk out a room and leave my phone in another room. It did not start the BT session sometimes. Starting the app does force BT again.

Since these changes, i have hardly ever a sync or notification problem (only because the vibrations is not strong anough, although it is already on Stron setting).

If this also works for you, try Tasker or some other Profile app on your phone to automate the killing and starting of the app.
