Fitbit, more banks in UK

I really love this watch. It’s working extremely well, but I bought it for two features which I need, Apple Watch provides them, but I cannot use because: Apple Music (I don’t want to use offline data or Deezer!!), and lastly, more important, the contactless payments. Indeed Fitbit Pay is provided only with few small banks. Any news about agreement with more popular banks like HSBC?

thanks

Fabio

I have no idea who initiated the link up between Fitbit and the bank.

I know a summary of what happens and with every transaction tgetbank and Fitbit has a role to play .

It would not hurt to request your bank bank to add Fitbit pay, it may even help .

Like the Apple watch and Garmon every bank needs to be individually setup with Fitbit. This would be why the list of banks are different among the different manufacturers.

I'm sure Fitbit could eventually find every bank in the world but if you have a bank in mind, I assune it is your bank, I suggest contacting your bank and ask them to get in touch with Fitbit.

Asking for generic UK banks will not be of help. Fitbit needs to know bank names.

Like i stated above, tell the bank that you want them to accept Fitbit pay. This would be the best way to get your wanted bank on biard.

@Rich_Laue I am pretty sure Fitbit knows the most popular and commonly used UK banks. I don't believe they haven't done any research for that matter when they approached the UK market. Or maybe I am wrong...

Thanks. I will contact my bank, but I am afraid is not going to enable it just on my request...

I contacted fitbit support about this here the really positive helpful reply that shows how interested they are in their uk customers:

'We highly appreciate your Feedback about the bank availability, make sure that you can raise your voice in our Community and vote for other's post with similar requests.'

So really practical advice on how to get my bank added and that they are expanding the list and working hard at it.

So I'm raising my voice , I wonder if anyone from fitbit is listening??🤔

I doubt there’s much point me contacting HSBC as I remember when Google and Apple introduced their pay apps and HSBC added Apple but took ages to add Google so I guess they’ll get there in the end.  I’ll try messaging them but I don’t recall having to do this with Apple Pay.

@Nickjt Fitbit has all the tools needed for any bank to add Fitbit pay. It is up to the bank to add Fitbit pay. Fitbit can not add a bank. As @YazaYana points out, it is up to the bank.

They should be actively asking banks to join, if they are serious about this feature. Are you telling me all those American banks joined after being asked to by their customers? Its Fitbits marketing teams job to get out there and persuade the banks to join

@Nickjt    i wrote to nationwide about 18 months ago and they replied saying they had no intention of allowing fitbit access to their banking, so i got a starling card to use the watch.

incidentally Starling have been voted best bank in uk for 2019 and it costs nothing to join

I’d say you were wrong, there is not one high street bank on there, only odd mastercard accounts 😞

@tonupkid it sounds like they don't understand how it works. Fitbit will not get access to the bank

I'm hoping that eventually Google pay will become an option that they will app it as an app to be added to the watch, though after that last update shambles I won't hold my breath they can do it right!
