The only other thing I can think of that might be worth trying is a full factory reset. You said the problem occurred after you did a firmware update, so it could possibly be a corrupted update. I would say you haven't got much to lose at this point.

Have you tried restarting your device by pressing and holding the left button and bottom right button together for 15 secs (until you see the fitbit logo).

Have tried the above. Connection is being made because the percent shows when the charger locks in place. After a second reboot and cleaning, the percent gas dropped from 26 to 25 during an hour charge.

Thank you for sharing that you already tried the restart process. Before considering other options, please confirm if you already tried the factory reset process that @N8teGee mentioned.
