Fitbit won’t count the right amount of calories

I have been noticing that my Fitbit is showing that I am burning a lot fewer calories than I know my body should be burning. I tested it on another device and the other Fitbit said that I burned a lot more than my ionic did. What do I need to fix?

Hello @Walter17 a warm welcome to our Fitbit Community. I'm glad to assist you today with your inquiry.

Seems odd that your device is showing fewer calories in your account. Let me share with you that your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the rate at which you burn calories at rest just to maintain vital body functions like breathing, heartbeat, and brain activity. Your BMR usually accounts for at least half of the calories you burn in a day and is estimated based on the physical data you entered when you set up your account: sex, age, height, and weight.

The calorie burn estimate that Fitbit provides takes into account your BMR, the activity recorded by your Ionic device and any activities that you manually log in your account. For more information and details, I recommend you to check: How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity? and let me know how it goes.

Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll be here if you need anything else.
