Fraud charges on debit card when using Fitbit Connect

I purchased an Ionic from Amazon last week, and downloaded the Fitbit Connect software from fitbit.com to transfer music. I've transferred music 3 times, and shortly after each transfer, I've had fraud charges on my debit card. My card isn't tied into my account whatsoever, and nothing suspicious has shown up while doing malware and virus scans on my PC. I haven't used this card for any retail or online purchases in over a week, so it doesn't seem like coincidence.

All told, they've hit me for $150 over 5 days. There's numerous charges ranging from 75 cents to $60. From overseas companies in China and Germany I'm not familiar with. They are dhgate.com, Zalando Payments Berlin, and Zalando IT.

Has anybody else had issues like this while using Fitbit Connect?

Sure sounds like a mess @MJG200 . Have you checked with your bank about this?

Yes. Contacted them yesterday to dispute charges, and was informed I'll have to wait until charges actually go through, they're still in a "pending" state. I will contact them again today. What's a bummer  is that this is my account that my Social Security payments are deposited to.

The third time it happened is what made me realize it wasn't coincidence. It's literally happened like clockwork a few hours after using Fitbit Connect.

But there is no place to enter a Credit card number on Connect.

Where are you downloading the music from, your computer?

Did you get the official Fitbit Connect software @MJG200 ?

Best Answer

Yes, coming straight from my computer via the official Fitbit Connect software. It's made me paranoid about using the software...I've went back to using my phone as a music player.
