I've had a Alta HR, Versa and now have an Ionic and still see only simplified sleep details. I've had it only once or twice reporting advanced with graph showing Awake, Rem, Light and Deep. My wife has a Blaze (I configured it for her) and she has no issues. I used to have Jawbone Up3 and this gave me always perfect the sleep stages, because they are out of business for the Up3 , and mine went defect , I switched to Fitbit. OK, what did I try ? - not to loosely, - 2 - 3 fingers above wrist bone, - sleeping in a chair, on my back, left side, right side etc. - it's in normal mode (sensitive mode did not solve it) - I did resetting the watch, the heart rate is on (on the watch through settings) and visible, I'm very healthy man, I 'm doing CrossFit, swimming, lots of walking have no stress, strong heart. I've read all posts about sleep/logging and none brought me a solution.
Of course I have the latest firmware and software installed, and the watch fully charged.

Same issue here, tried e everything possible. Sleep tracking is the only reason why I haven’t moved to fhe Apple Watch, and now there’s no more point to stick around.

No progress in this, no explanation why it did work irregular and why it stopped.
Have done all updates/firmware, I didnot change I'm still the same old me, I still sleep as I did before.
There must be a reason, is my heartbeat irregular (is that of any influence) is it the magnetique band (my wife uses also a magnetique band and has no issues.... what can I do for testing ?

Please remove "solved" because this issue is not solved.
Today I found out that I could not get all day sync set on, I got it going again, after I first removed the Ionic under blue tooth (forget this device) , started all-day sync, this worked !
I will let you know tomorrow if this also helped to get sleepstages.

Thanks for your updates. I really don't know how our issue merited the "Solved" label; it is still a significant problem from my point of view. On your syncing issue, I have found that just rebooting the Ionic always seem to resolve this issue, without doing anything to my iphone. Still have to periodically do this, but very infrequently.

Sorry only simplified sleepstages, so continously sync did not made any difference.
all other features like, heartbeat , steps, exercise, GPS, Musique , messages etc are working ok.

Interesting development here. To reiterate, I have AFIB (specifically atrial flutter) which is controlled by medication. On Thursday, 10/25 at 6:50PM, my flutter returned with a resting heart rate of 95-100 bpm. My particular flutter is very regular and not particularly symptomatic: I just know its abnormal and will need to be corrected either by increased/different meds or cardioversion.
But the surprising thing is (or maybe not) that sleep staging resumed with the onset and has continued since that date. Just to be clear, THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION. But its probably an important clue to this issue for those of you who have AFIB as I do. If you have this sleep staging issue and are not aware that you have AFIB, please take measures (EKG) to insure that you just haven't been diagnosed. People with AFIB are prone to strokes if not treated.

Hi @orionseye, great to see you in the Community Forums! 🙂
Thanks a lot for sharing this with us. While Fitbit trackers are not meant to be seen as medical devices and can not be used to diagnose or treat any condition, they are sure good tools to monitor your general health and if you notice something different than what you normally see, it's always a good idea to check with a professional to have a second opinion so I'm with you when you say that anyone noticing things like this, should ask for professional advise.
Hope to see you around!

Hello,
May I ask you if you have a regular good all night sleep or if you wake up a lot at night (walk around, etc)?
I have the same issue, but after exchanging my Ionic three times, without any success, I am convinced that neither the Ionic, nor much more expensive watches can track irregular sleep with a lot of waking ups. These trackers will have enough information for a quality sleeping graph, after three hours straight of good sleep, without pulse variations and as few as possible movements. Changing settings, resets, etc are useless!
Please, keep me posted.
Best,
Comalito.

There is nothing wrong with me physically or with me sleeping, I normally sleep through the whole night, have no stress and I am not restless.
I did had an Up3 Jawbone (they don't make/support them anymore) and never had an issue, they Always gave an excellent report of sleepstages

Last night I experimented by exchanging the fitbit BLAZE of my wife with mine IONIC.
- My wife got perfect sleepstages (like she also got with het Blaze) and I.... I only got simplified sleepstages.
I assume it's me.
tip for others lent your Ionic to a friend / partner and see what happens.
This is a practical thing to do in finding out who or what is wrong.

Count me in the group who used to consistently get sleep stages but now haven't got them for 3 weeks.
Can't see anything that would indicate it's not tracking.

As I said, I am going through the same issue as you. Sleep recordings go from occasionaly close to accuracy to most of the time absurd registering. (Last night, according to the tracker, I slept one hour !!!!! After I made a manual correction, it stated that I sept 18 hours !!!! (WOW from 1 registered hour to 18 hours !!)
This is my third exchange on warranty. It's worse every time! I even gave up on tthat!
I am about to quit, but HR readings (like yours) are very accurate. I tested pulse with medical heart rate measuring devices.
It's also significant to know that FITBIT IONIC is consedered by most critics as the best device on the market to measure sleep!!!
May be technology is not ready.......From gadgets to precision instruments ?
