So, I got my Ionic Xmas 2017,.I've absolutely loved it so far. Used it all time for training and never ever had any issues with until last Saturday! After opening the app on my phone just to keep everything synced up, I've gone back to use my Ionic and the swipe up function wasn't working AT ALL. So I scroll through mt screens and also find the settings has been completed taken off my watch??
Gave it a couple of days to see if it will fix it self and no luck. Checked the forums and been recommended to reset it. Done that, no luck. So the next step was factory restore. This is where the bigger issue occurred.
Done the correct steps I.E used phone to forget bluetooth device, removed Ionic from the app. Done the factory reset, Ionic connected via bluetooth, connected to WI-FI downloaded the software. Then when it went onto installing approx an hour later. My Ionic screen is showing nothing at all. Tried pressing the buttons, nothing lighting up. It was charging as well when installing so battery couldn't have died?
Has anyone else had this issue after factory reset? Any solutions anyone is able to give out? I've plugged it into the computer to if it can breathe any life into it & no such luck. Or after only 15 months has it completely given up.
Any opinions of help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks 🙂

Hi @Echo192.
You could try doing the factory reset again using the hardware technique (button combination). It might not work but is at least worth trying.
On the watch, hold all three buttons for about twelve seconds. This will trigger the 2-button hardware restart after about eight seconds.
- When the Fitbit logo appears, then disappears, release the bottom right button, whilst continuing to hold the left and top right buttons until you feel a strong vibration. This indicates the factory reset was initiated.
- This process may take several seconds, and eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays go to Fitbit.com/setup.
- If you fail to release the bottom right button in time or otherwise don't follow the procedure precisely, the Fitbit logo reappears quickly and boots without factory reset.

The EXACT SAME THING happened to me this morning! Except my issue was that my alarm app wasn't working at all, it would crash the second I opened it. It was annoying this morning because a few Saturdays ago, I had a 530am alarm set for work that morning, and I haven't been able to shut it off. So after reading through the community feeds, I made the decision to do a factory reset since everyone said that fixed it. I was reluctant but did it anyways. Welp, I guess I shouldn't have...
It reset fine, I went through the process of setting it back up in the app, connected it to Bluetooth and wifi, started to do the software update, which failed, and then I try to do it again and the ionic will not turn on at all. I tried all the different variations of pressing the buttons to get the fitbit logo to pop up and nothing happened. It was sitting on the charger and prior to that it was at least at 75% battery, so I too know the battery did not die. I've been letting it sit on the charger, waiting to see if a miracle will happen but based on all of the comments I'm reading on this feed, I'm afraid this $300 watch is now a dud.
What pisses me off more is I'm on call all of this weekend, so I need my watch as a backup to ensure I get every call or text from work, and especially that I get woken up overnight from the watch vibrating in case of an emergency at the hospital. I've been loyal to fitbit for many years now, and again based on these comments and the fact all of us who bought our ionics at the same time are now magically SOL is beyond disappointing and frustrating as ever. Because of how badly I need a watch for both being on call and for tracking my workouts and steps for work too, I'm afraid to but I'm going to have to jump ship to the Galaxy watch. I need something reliable and I've already gotten a replacement Ionic once in the last year. You would think a company would take better care of you than this.

This something I had tried already and unfortunately didn’t work. After getting in touch with the team at FitBit they are supplying me a replacement.
I’m still a bit annoyed about the whole thing but I will say they’ve pulled through on the customer service

You are the first person i’ve seen have this issue as well. I was starting to think I had done something wrong!
Technically, there hasn’t been any solution to actually solve the issue. I will praise the FitBit team for jumping on it now and sending me out a replacement.
Hopefully, I won’t have the same problem in a year or so otherwise like you, I will have to jump ship on to another smart watch.

I'm glad they are giving you a replacement! Unfortunately, I think I'm out of the replacement window. I hope this one works out well for you!

I'm having similar issues, now after trying the factory reset it won't turn on and it's super hot.
How old was your Fitbit?

I had gotten my fitbit right when it released on black Friday of 2017. The replacement however I had received just last May (2018) so I hadn't even had my replacement for a year yet. It never did turn back on, but I made the switch to the Samsung Watch Active and it was the best decision I ever made. I hated to leave Fitbit, but they really let me down.
