Had to factory reset after battery went flat

For the first time since I bought it, I think, I accidentally let the battery on my Ionic run completely flat. And when I put it on charge and turned it back on it refused to reconnect to my phone.

In the end I had to do a factory reset just to get it to reconnect, complete with the whole re-install of the firmware.

I was on a good run of days hitting my targets and it's doubly annoying to miss it simply because I can't get my tracker running again in time to record my activity.

Hello @theaardvark a factory reset does exactly that, resets the tracker to a before setup state. Before it will connect to the phone, you will need to setup up as a replacement device to the unit in your account.

Yup. I was aware of that. My issue is

1) That I had to resort to this to get my device to reconnect after something as innocuous as letting the Ionic's battery run flat.

2) An hour? Almost an hour to pair the device and download and install an up to date firmware. I've updated an entire windows OS is less time than that.

The factory reset should not have been necessary with a simple draining of the battery. There are other steps that could have been tried first period on Android there's close to 8 are 10 steps that could be tried .

Yes we have noticed that a factory reset removes any updates.
