Have a few questions about my Ionic.

I have had several fitbits over the years and just recently decided to get the Ionic. I have a few questions and observations.

1) Wifi: It connects then disconnects after 30 seconds. I look in the app and it has my password and network saved but it does not stay connected. I'm assuming that it only connects when it needs to? or it's not working properly?

2) Heartrate: I noticed after two days that I need to wear the Ionic a little more snug to get an accurate heart rate. If it's a little loose it doesn't always read and or it says my heart rate is higher than normal.

3) fitbit app and heart rate: The app does not always show my current heart rate, I have to close the app and open it again to make it read my current rate. Sometimes I have to close and open app twice to make it show current rate. Yes, my bluetooth is connected and updates my steps fast but not always heart rate. It shows on my Ionic but not always app. (Ionic is snug on wrist now)

What I have.

iPhone 8 (latest updates and app)

fitbit Ionic Firmware version: 27.25.16.7

WiFi (2.4 & 5ghz dual band network WPA2)

Apple MacBook Pro (latest updates)

It will only connect to wifi when needed, ie; a firmware update, when transferring music to it or when adding apps.

I have not noticed anything different about how the heart rate is measured, but then again I am wearing it a bit tighter than the Blaze just because that is the way it fits me.

The Fitbit app will not always show the current heart rate. It needs to sync to do that and it does not auto sync just by opening the app.

First of all, thank you for your reply. I do pull down my fitbit app to force sync it. It also automatically syncs when you open the app (iPhone 😎 still have to occasionally close and open app to get heart rate to show. Any clue as to when the next firmware update will drop?

Hi @Stevefo - No idea when there will be a firmware update. Fitbit doesn’t typically commit to a date until the updates are actually live. I would note, however, that the iPhone 8 is not technically a supported device yet. This may or may not be a technicality, but it isn’t listed in the supported device list.
