Heart Rate Monitor turned off - please turn off the green light

I'd like to request this feature.    Some of us do not want the green light on our skin 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.   Thanks.

Hi @app-idea-man,

Your request has been granted. On the Ionic, go into Settings, then under Heart Rate, you can turn ON or OFF as you'd like. Hope this helps.

Why purchase and pay more for a device with continuous heart monitoring to then turn it off? Buy a regular watch......

But, per the owners manual (and my experience), turning off the heart rate monitor does not turn off the green flashing light that's on your skin.  It operates differently than Charge HR.

I only want my heart rate being monitored when I exercise.   Thanks.

You are totally correct. Please vote for this suggestion, and with enough votes, Fitbit may implement it.

This is a regression from the Surge, I also don't want the green light on 24/7 only when I exercise or when I want it!

this is very disappointing and illl have to use my surge again until this is fixed 😕

Hi @Skoogle,

If you go into the settings app on the watch, scroll down to heart rate. This will stop heart rate tracking, if set to Off, but the green light stays on regardless currently.

Yeah, I tried that too, when I started reading the thread (I'd seen the setting before on my Charge 2).

If you're freaked out by the green light, which is used to monitor HRM, either take the watch off, or put a piece of blue painters tape over it, I suppose.

Even given that, what's everyone worried about, with the green LED?  I count 12 green LEDs in my proximity (my network device stack, mostly), amongst other colors as well, I bet there's at least 25-30, in this room alone.

Is there something I'm missing here, can someone enlighten me about the issue?

Cheers for that - Im just playing around figuring it all out so was just interested why I wasnt seeing it. Tried on mobile app and desktop but was in actual watch app haha thanks!

My problem is that it sucks battery life. I put tape over it and the light is still activated the only time it turns off is when its off your wrist.

Weird.  Mine runs in the mode it came in (in terms of HRM), probably "auto" I'd guess, and so far it's gotten phenomenal battery life, compared to my Charge 2.  If I don't use the GPS, it's maybe 5-10%/day, and that's with a 1.5-3 hour ride in there(most days), which it tracks (my HRM and time only, obviously) and logs.

GPS is tough on the battery, I bet it wouldn't make it 24 hours on a charge, regardless.

This green light is leaving a large red mark on my wrist. Can’t be good.
