Heart rate monitor doesn’t work

Just got a Fitbit Ionic. Since the time it has been turned on, the heart rate monitor has not worked at all. I have reset the watch 3 times, and it still isn’t working. Anybody else have this problem?

Why do you think that the heart rate monitor has not worked at all.? Describe what you expect to be happening that isn't happening.

The sensors haven’t turned on in the 8 hours I’ve had the watch and it doesn’t show the heart rate on either the watch or my phone. I’ve reset to the factory settings 3 times. I’ve switched the heart rate monitor option on and off several times. Nothing happens. I’ve tightened and loosened the band several times.
