Heart rate reading is higher than it should be

A few months ago my Ionic watch (bought Oct 2018) start showing the heart rate about 40% above what it should. On exercises that normally showed about 100-120 bpm before now shows 145-185 bpm on light jogging. As a 68 years old man my max pulse should be no more than 167 bpm (I one time a couple of years ago reached almost 160bpm for a few seconds).

When this occurred I reported it to fitbit support. Long history made short support acknowledged that some Ionic watches has reported same fault. Support say that I have to wait until they get it solved and I have to update the Ionic frequently. So they don't want to help me further...

Anyone experienced same problem?
