Hiking app that shows altitude and distances

I have seen a large request and feel you need to create a hiking app for the Ionic watch that shows altitude and distances. With the built in GPS this process should be easy. When or is there plans for this app?

Hello @wg8569, it's good to see you around in the forums.

Thank you for sharing your comments about the possibility of adding a hiking app for the Ionic. If you haven't done so already, I certainly recommend that you vote for the idea @WendyB mentioned previously to have the option to measure altitude and other useful data with these type of activities.

Voting for ideas helps to attract more attention from the team of developers; they constantly review this section of the forums for possible updates in the future.

I hope this helps.

@wg8569 to get such app working efficiently on such a slow watch would be quite challenging. You may try to check out mobile app Komoot. I use it for hiking and cycling ( especially for cycling ). On the watch, it is enough for me that I can upload GPX file and see where I am even without seeing rest of the map. It also includes all other data you mentioned. Not sure whether Ionic has such app but it would be good if Fitbit simply enhanced the Exercise app to provide route and POI navigation like competitors do. From other software I also use AllTrails, although unlike Komoot, sometimes it shows trails which overlap with restricted areas ( Komoot is lot better in that matter and safer to use ). All the apps export GPX files so if you find any route navigation app for Ionic that can use GPX then you should be all set ( if such app exists, I don't know that ).
