How do I download music to the Ionic when I don't use iTunes? I only have music saved on Spotify.

Thank you

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Ldonn, hope you're doing great today! First make sure that your Wi-Fi network is working correctly and that your network type is compatible with your watch. After you verify the network is compatible, plug your watch into the charger and make sure it’s in range of your Wi-Fi network. For a stronger Wi-Fi connection, move your watch closer to your router.

To download personal music and podcasts, your watch and computer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your watch tile.
  2. Tap or click Wi-Fi Settings.
  3. Make sure your watch and computer are connected to the same network. To see which network your computer is on, click the Wi-Fi symbol on your screen.
  4. If your watch and computer are connected to different networks, manually connect your watch to the same network as your computer. Return to the Wi-Fi settings screen in the Fitbit app, tap the network name, and tap Connect.
  5. Open the Music app on your watch and then tap Transfer Music to try again. Note that it may take up to a minute for your playlists to appear on your computer's screen.

If you still have trouble downloading your playlists, complete the steps below:

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone; wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Sync your Fitbit watch with your dashboard:
    1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your device image.
    2. Tap or click Sync Now and wait a few moments for your watch to sync.
  3. Restart your watch by holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  4. Open the Music app on your watch and then tap Transfer Music

Note that your watch only stays in transfer mode for a few minutes. If you took a few extra minutes to choose your playlists, restart the download if you don’t see “Ready to Transfer” on your watch's screen. To do so, tap Transfer Music on your watch again and wait a few moments for the download to start. For best results, plug your watch into the charger before downloading music.

On the other hand, thanks for your interest in a Spotify App for Fitbit Ionic. The best thing to do in this case is voting for the Feature Suggestion asking the same:

This is the best way to show support for the release of the app. The more votes, the better. Feel free to leave a comment too.

Watch that space for any updates that may arrive regarding this.

Let me know if that works, I'll be around!

what you are describing doesn't work ... this watch is a piece of garbage you can't listen to music at all with it .. people who are thinking about buying this watch, be very aware that this watch shows all the gadgets in the word to listen to music but in practice it can't do any of it. Buy an apple watch and you will be free of all the headaches

Hi @AG6666 the only way to download music is if you have local music stored on the PC or laptop.  You can download playlists but only created from your own local music.  The Spotify app only acts as a remote for your phone, and if you don't have any local music then I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Also an Apple watch is only useful for those people who own an iPhone and not those who own Android.

@AG6666 I've used to listen to music many times... so... yeah, it works...

how did you make it work? I go for runs outdoor and I leave my phone in the car .. when I am close to my car I could get reception from my phone and it works but as soon as I go a little further the reception stops and the watch stops playing the music .. If this is made to have your phone with you all the time then what is the point of playing it from the watch when I could just play it from my phone .. I just don't understand it.

Have you actually transferred the music to the watch? Look here for instructions as to how.  Note though that you don't need the connect app and can transfer using the PC app.

Put the watch into music transfer mode and you can then select tracks from your PC to make a playlist to transfer to your watch.

No, because as I already stated earlier in this thread, the Spotify app acts only as a remote control for your phone.  There is no way of downloading any Spotify playlist to any Fitbit device.

Well even an Apple Watch has major limitations, namely that the battery life is pathetic at roughly 18 hours and it cannot track your sleep at all.  Although for me the biggest limitation would be that as I don't own an iPhone an Apple Watch would be totally useless, and when you consider that globally Apple has about 15% marketshare a lot of people agree with me.

A Fitbit is good for exercise tracking, excels at sleep tracking and suits a need; however if your needs are different then you will have to make your own mind up.
