Open the Starbucks app in Ionic, and keep it showing. ( If not, set up a Starbucks Card first. ) And then, Wi-Fi will not drop in Ionic.

What? This has nothing at all to do with the question. Starbucks cards are are not needed.

My WiFi is always on... as a result I have to charge it every day or two. I love the Ioinic except for the short battery life

I am clearly missing a step. I open my fitbit app on my iphone. I tap on the icon in the upper right hand corner (a box with three lines and a circle). But at no point do I ever see a wifi setting to adjust and I have looked at all of the different options on the fitbit app.
What am I missing???!!!!

There is no setting to adjust. WiFi is only used by the Ionic during firmware updates and music transfer. Other times it uses Bluetooth. When it needs WiFi, it turns it on and then turns it off again when finished.

My phone (Samsung S5) won't recognize the Bluetooth from my Ionic Fitbit. How do I get it to sync? I thought that it would do it through wifi.

No, the Ionic uses Bluetooth for syncing and won’t use WiFi for that purpose

I'm having the same trouble. My Ionic was working just fine for the first few months, and now I can't get it to sync, and I am not able to get a playlist to work on it for music. It all seems to stem from the WiFi. I followed your instructions, but my phone can't detect the WiFi through the FitBit app and just spins endlessly, searching. I'm very frustrated. I don't know what I did to change the settings. I'm ready to try a factory reset!

Same problem as mentioned above. Have not been able to sync sinne Wednesday the 7th of March. No config changes. The app om my iPad says that the Ionicis connected with Bluetooth. The watch says «WiFi off». Tried to reboot both the iPad and the watch, no help.
Don’t want to set the clock to fabric settings, since I will lose all untransferred data..
What’s wrong...? App or watch bug...?

I honestly don’t know what it is. I had to do a factory reset on mine to get it to start working again which didn’t start happening until this morning randomly. There was a firmware update for Fitbit I don’t know if that’s the issue or what. My app could not find my WiFi at all - then this morning it found it. No idea why. Sorry I wish I could be more help. It’s very very annoying I know.

If you are having problems to connect to wifi, the trick is to unpair the watch (bluetooth unpair). Described in the article here https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Ionic/setting-up-wifi-on-Ionic/td-p/2355223

The ionic will only turn on Wifi when plugged into its charger. or when the Fitbit app requests it to be turned on.

check on ur fitbit whether the wifi is on or off. To do that you will have to
And underneath "IP Address" will be highlighted your current wifi status

WiFi is on automatically, unlike previous Fitbits there is no on/off switch. Here is a summary of what i have found with wireless and my fitbit;
- WiFi settings have to be pushed via Bluetooth - annoying, I know - and will come on "auto-magically" when the device decides it needs to use WiFi. See below for bluetooth issues/fixes
- Updating firmware via Bluetooth, while supported by the app, is NOT functional, be prepared to wait 5 to 10 minutes to figure out it has failed and give you a message. You MUST setup wifi and it will still take up to an hour to complete a typical update (looking at my WiFi usage the updates are 1GB or more, so make sure you have a strong WiFi connection)
- It will have issues if there are two bluetooth paired devices in close proximity, make sure you turn off your phone bluetooth if you are trying to sync to your PC bluetooth
- Occasionally Bluetooth on the fitbit won't connect (I had this issue on my fitbit charge HR too), go into bluetooth settings, change to off, exit settings, go back into settings and set to on. Since an update sometime in May/June 2018 this method has worked 100% of the time
One other note, it seems that the watch will sync via WiFi, I have occasionally turned on my phone's hotspot and i notice when i go to sync via bluetooth that it has already synced. Since i turn off my watch's bluetooth after every sync, i can only assume wifi is always on. I sleep with my wrist by my head so this is not really a comforting thought, i turn off wireless partly for battery savings (5+ days typically) and partly for health.
FITBIT FOLKS - please provide an on/off for ALL wireless services! Thanks!!
Hope this helps.
Long time fitbit user!
