WiFi does have kind of an on/off switch. Plug it into the charger while the the Ionic is charging the wifi is turned on. Remove the Ionic from it's charger and wifi is turned off. The only other time I have seen wifi turn in is when setting up the wifi or music. During the music setup there is an option to turn on wifi without the unit plugged in.

What if you don't have bluetooth on your computer. I bought a dongle and it let"s some of the apps work correctly. I can"t get email notifications to work.

For notifications @malyce I believe you'll need to have the Fitbit app on a phone.

Try to reconnect to wifi and I get an error message that states blue is off. My bluetooth is always on. I turned it off and back on.

Hey there @jo0008 and @Hcr47at. Just as @Rich_Laue mentioned, you should connect your Ionic to the charger and this will allow you to connect it to Wi-Fi. You can learn more about it by checking this article How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?.
I'll be around if you need further assistance.

Thank you! There used to be a way to turn it on and off on the ionic. I havent been able to find that again and I'm do sick of the issues with this device every time there is an update. Mine works fine and I dont want to waste my winter break anymore than the 2 hours I already have trying to turn on wifi on this **ahem** device. Gave my son the Samsung watch today. Giving him a month and if no issues I'm leaving my group of 3 yrs and leaving this sync d wifi nightmare called Fitbit

On the Ionic and the versa, nothing has changed with the latest update in relation the their WiFi.
Plug them into their pwered charging cable, the wifi turns on, only them and the wifi turns off.
I will have to check, but I believe a user may force a downloading it music, which will force the wifi on even when not plugged in. This will also drain the battery pretty quickly.

So what do you do when you try that and everything else I can think and it says cannot find my ionic watch? when I look in setting it says wifi is off. I have tried re-starting the watch several times and still nothing other than setting it back to factory reset i have tried everything I can find online on how to fix this. I am getting the impression from reading reviews that this is a very common problem with the ionic

I am trying to transfer music to my watch. I also can't use Deezer without a wifi connection

You can't transfer music to or from the watch, a computer is needed to load personal music onto the ionic.
As for Deezer, first we need to plug the ionic into it's charger and make sure it is charging. Wifi will only be turned on while the ionic is charging.
Now if you haven't let's go to the ionic settings and setup wifi.
There phone will use Bluetooth to setup Deezer, then the ionic will use wifi to connect directly to Deezer to update the music.
Are you able to get your Notifications, or able to add, remove apps?

Yes a computer is needed to transfer/load music to the watch but the watch must have a connection to wifi to do this.
When the watch is plugged into the charger wifi still does not come on
I do get my notifications

Has WiFi been setup?
Is the phone or computer Connected to the same network?
I have never seen the app or the ionic tell me that WiFi is off on the ionic. Where do you see this message?

where is the ionic telling you that WiFi is not turned on? If wifi hasn't been setup, the factory reset removed the setup, WiFi will not be turned on.
