How to start using the heart rate monitor

I'm sorry if I am missing something obvious, but I am seeing no way to start using the heart rate monitor.

I bought a new Ionic earlier today and am not able to get the actual heart rate monitor to turn on (so there are no flashing lights that I am seeing) and I am only getting null readings because of it.  The only information I have found is with regards to the heart rate monitor setting in the setting of the watch itself, but that has always been set to "on."

The only thing that seemed like it would be remotely related was that it asked me to plug in the watch and wait 15 seconds to calibrate sensors, but I plugged it in for 30 minutes and it is still not working.  I have also tried resetting the watch, but that did not work either.

Once again, sorry if this is obvious, but I do not see anything in the instructions nor on the app for this.

Thank you.

Have you taken a look under the watch?  This is where the heart rate sensors are.  If you see a green light, that is where the sensors are and the green light means that they're working.  If not, you will need to turn them on via the Ionic settings in the app.

The green light was not there after I did the set-up and soft resets.  I ended up doing a hard reset and re-doing the set-up through the Windows app as opposed to the Android one as I saw that recommendation as I continued searching around here, and it ended up working after that.

Do you or someone else mind explaining where this would have been in the app itself though, since that may have been an easier solution?  When I clicked on the Ionic device, I see things like clock faces, a Sync Section, and a General Section, but the only setting I see is for WiFi.  Thanks a lot for the help.

In the iOS there is a settings, I think it is in the top left. However my instructions are to swipe over to the settings on the ionic, not the Fitbit app

OK... but how would I know how to get to settings. I read the instruction manual. It says to go to settings but doesn't say how.

Nothing called "settings" on Ionic

@jaythekaz There should be a Settings app on your Ionic. If you swipe left, you should eventually see a gear icon labeled Settings.

If for some reason it is not on the ionic.

Open the Fitbit app - tap on the ionic then apps - if settings does not show up there then choose all apps - search for setting and press install.
