I was fiddling around with my Ionic and thought I'd check out the "coach" icon.
Now I can't get it to shut off and just go back to the clock face. Left button doesn't do it, nor do either of the right hand side buttons.

Click the play button (bottom right button). It will turn into a 'next' button. Press it again and it then becomes a pause button.
At this point in the upper left corner, tap the finish flag. It will then prompt you to end the workout.

Gave up and restarted it. Am still curious about how to stop that app running, though, if you decide you don't want to do the workout.

Thanks for the answer, which indeed helped me to escape being permanently trapped in the app for all eternity.
But - really - can the designers of this watch be taken seriously when such specialist knowledge (that is far from intuitive) is needed to do something as simple as exit an app? The button on the left side of the watch is supposed to be a "back" button. We should be able to depend on it working in ALL situations.

Agreed -- everything I could find both in the manual and elsewhere ALL SAID: use the BACK button yet it did nothing and the workout that accidentally got started somehow continued to control my watch.. Let's get that BACK button working and "Make Ionic Great Again" 😃
