My ionic shows my heart rate at something like 115 when I am actually at 175 or 180. I know this because I have a separate heart rate monitor when I am on my elliptical. This is pretty frustrating when I am trying to get accurate calorie burn information. I am already wearing it higher up my wrist and have updated it as well as it can go. My last Fitbit showed the accurate heart rate but this unit seems to think I’m taking it easy for most of my workout. It seems to show a accurate heart rate when I am running which is confusing me.

if you are getting accurate HR while running and at rest, then I would try doing something different with your arms. For example if you are tightly gripping the elliptical handles, loosen up your grip. Or try swinging your arms freely instead of holding onto the handles (if possible). I'm assuming you are putting Ionic into exercise mode before starting elliptical workout.

Sometimes with some exercises it takes a little time for the hr monitoring to catch up. Happens to me with weights training, but after 30 sec, it increases at the actual hr.
