Insanely High Step Count while idle or riding a bike

So my fitbit Ionic of which  have fully updated its firmware continuously counts steps. 

1. While riding my bike (may count thousands of steps during a 3 mile ride)

2. While watching my Ionic sit on my desk idle doing nothing withing 20 minutes will count hundreds of steps at a time. 

3. Normal walking seems to work as expected. 

4. While charging it counts a large number of steps. 

Currently this device is somewhat broken. I'd strongly recommend against it until they fix it. My Charge 2 still works fine.

Return it and hope the replacement is works.

I have a similar issue. It just happened last night. I've done resets, factory resets, unpairing, etc. I'm losing hope... :'(

All, 

I messaged fitbit on FB, they connected me to support. Support took a look at what was happening (meaning my stats of steps taken on odd hours). My Ionic is being replaced. I strongly suggest if you have the similar issue take similar steps.
