Ionic Accuracy Caloric Expenditure Stationary Cycling

I use an upright desk stationary cycle while at work. Naturally, there are stops and starts in my cycling; however, I am at level 5 and pause both my watch and the desk cycle's timer when I stop for any length of time,  both are close in actual time spent cycling, approximately 2 hours total.  My bike reads I have gone 20 miles and reads more than a  805 Kcal expenditure, and watch only reports less than 250 ? ? ?  I used the spinning app on the watch since there is no stationary bike app on the watch.  Why such a huge difference in Kcals?  I think the watch is way off.

What is the best way to make adjust to record Kcals?

@IonicDory Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for posting your experience when using the Spinning App on Ionic while using your desk stationary cycle.

Is it always giving you the same amount of calories burned when you use the spinning app? What about the other stats?

Check if the heart rate is being recorded correctly, this influences in the calories burned your watch will reflect. The wrist placement is very important for a good heart rate reading. It is recommended to wear it two to three fingers far up from your wrist bone. Also, not too tight; but not too loose. Please check this helpful article for more details about this.

Another thing you can try too is manually logging the spinning activity. This option allows you to enter the amount of calories manually (and optional), and could be useful for you. It is also an option that should give accurate data regarding your exercise.

Try that out and let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

I have a chest strap, and I could wear it to test the watch and the bike ... what a hassle, but chest strap test may prove very interesting.  I will try it and post my results soon. Perhaps next week.  I will be out a health conference for the next couple of days.

Sure, it would be very interesting to see the results you will get while using the chest strap. Please post your results once you have them.

Good luck on the health conference!
