It seems to be a lot of people with the same problem as of recent. My Ionic quit receiving notifications and then at midnight it would erase the previous day stats from my phone app (It said it was syncing) and I started to look back at the app and the last saved date was 02/05. I also seen there was an automatic update on 02/04. Customer Service says that is not the problem, But my watch was working fine up to that point. I decided to uninstall everything from the phone and factory reset the Ionic and everything was going fine and halfway through the install the watch shut off and that is when my Ionic died. Have not been able to reset/start it since then. Called Customer Service and the person could see I tried everything they would suggest to fix it. So the only option was to offer me 40% off with FREE expedited shipping. I decided to think about it and I went to Best Buy and low and behold They have sold a ton of Galaxy Watches to People like me (YES, I am wearing one right now) due to this recent problem. I have up to 30 days to return it if I dont like it. But so far that does not be the case. Fitbit has not convinced me that this is not a software update issue that caused this. The coincidence of so many other people having the same problem in the same time range......Well enough said. My Galaxy Watch tells me to go for a walk.

Add another Ionic to the list. Was working fine yesterday till suddenly “black screen”. Tried a lot of things found on the internet, charged it all night...nothing.

I have the Ionic as well. So i recently removed the device from my account as i was giving it to my dad, and the Ionic hasn't booted since then. I have tried resetting it multiple times but to no avail. I know that it is charging, because after a ton of tries, a 0% indicator is seen on the screen. Other than that, nothing is displayed on the watch.

Another Ionic bites the dust. This is the replacement that died 6 months after my first one died at only 10 months. I got the vertical lines on the screen then it just stopped working fully a day later. No amount of troubleshooting is going to bring this back.
Looks like I am having to switch brands as a discount code for the Versa Light(their spelling not mine) is not an acceptable resolution.

I hear you and wholeheartedly agree. I have been a Fitbit user since January 2016. I started with the simple HR. The strap literally disintegrated after 10 months. Fitbit was very responsive - sent me a replacement since it was under warranty. I had the same issue with the second one 10 months later. I really liked the app and wanted to be loyal to the brand. I thought the Ionic would be a perfect match for me. My husband bought it as a birthday gift November 2017. It's not the most sophisticated smartwatch and it had a few glitches. The swim feature is not great and I find it irritating that people have been commenting about this in the forum for 2 years with absolutely no improvements to the software. Seems like Fitbit doesn't really care. Meantime my Aria scale died in February. Of course it was outside of the 1 year warranty. The forum indicated this was a common issue and that it was beyond repair. More evidence that Fitbit doesn't care about a product that is poorly made. Fast forward to last week and my Ionic died after 22 months. It was working fine, had a 80% charge and then the screen went black during a run. I tried all the reset suggestions to no avail. I tried charging. Nothing. It is completely dead. Judging from the comments in this forum, this is very common and my only recourse would be a discount on a replacement. This was a $300 watch. It should last. My husband's Garmin is 5 years old and still works perfectly with so many more features that the Ionic ever had. Why would I want another product that is destined to fail again? I am done with Fitbit. Between the shoddy products and the poor customer service I am ready to jump ship. I did some research last week and decided to purchase a Coros Apex. Based on customer reviews it is a far superior product with amazing customer service. It just arrived today so I don't have any feedback yet. I will post again.

My ionic completely failed within the warranty period ie black screen no lights on the back would not charge, I was sent a refurbished model that failed in exactly the same way in a few months. I was told I could buy a new one for 25% off. I should have been given a new one in the first place and the second one should not have also failed in the same way. Does fitbit not feel a fiduciary responsibility to satisfy it's warranty obligations, what about its moral obligation to customer satisfaction. No wonder it's losing market share. Consider another company!

I just got the blow off as well. Someone gave me a Fenix 5X as a gift which I sent that to stay loyal to fitbits. Now I have the black screen of death. They want to give me 25% off. Has anyone got theirs replaced out of warranty or is it really time to move on? Had similar issues with last 3 fitbits.

It really is time to move on, they have proven they don't care. With all the bad publicity they are getting on Twitter and Facebook I have yet to see a single instance of someone getting a replacement out of warranty even if Fitbit bricked their device with the recent update.

I had an HR 2 and I got it in beginning of 2017, when my Ionic does, charged it up and worked just fine after almost 2 years of non use. My boyfriend bought me the Versa 2. Set up, apps and wi-fi set up worked better than my Ionic did. I’m hopeful, however purchased the extended warranty to be on the safe side.

Ironically our benefits broker brought a wellness company in last week and they were pitching us on how their service includes discounted fitbits for our employees, etc. Looking forward to bursting his bubble! LOL

Hi,
I wrote of the fitbit facebook page. Within 5 days a new pebble had been delivered. It was 18 months old.

I thought this forum was on fitbit Facebook page......no offer of new pebble yet, maybe because they have already sent me one in the past....unfortunately it failed in the same way in only a few months and their excuse was that they already sent me a "one time" replacement as mine was out of warranty......it was not, they just took that long to get it to me after asking so many questions and asking for uploaded pictures and bill of purchase etc. I'm not sure I'd even appreciate a new one now, even for free given everything Ive read in this forum, certainly not one I only get 25% off of seeing that others got 40% off. I'd feel the need to pay even more for an extended warranty since two have failed already. Who was it, Confucius? who said: "only a fool makes the same mistake twice expecting a different result!"

I live in San Francisco and fitbit is in my backyard. The Chronicle is doing a piece on "disposable" consumer electronics and the environment. I sent a pic of my drawer of broken fitbits. Stay tuned...may need more.
