Ionic Black Screen and Will Not Start Up

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

It seems to be a lot of people with the same problem as of recent. My Ionic quit receiving notifications and then at midnight it would erase the previous day stats from my phone app (It said it was syncing) and I started to look back at the app and the last saved date was 02/05. I also seen there was an automatic update on 02/04. Customer Service says that is not the problem, But my watch was working fine up to that point. I decided to uninstall everything from the phone and factory reset the Ionic and everything was going fine and halfway through the install the watch shut off and that is when my Ionic died. Have not been able to reset/start it since then. Called Customer Service and the person could see I tried everything they would suggest to fix it. So the only option was to offer me 40% off with FREE expedited shipping. I decided to think about it and I went to Best Buy and low and behold They have sold a ton of Galaxy Watches to People like me (YES, I am wearing one right now) due to this recent problem. I have up to 30 days to return it if I dont like it. But so far that does not be the case. Fitbit has not convinced me that this is not a software update issue that caused this. The coincidence of so many other people having the same problem in the same time range......Well enough said. My Galaxy Watch tells me to go for a walk.

At least it’s still under warranty. I loved my Ionic.. but it had problems straight from the box.

My girlfriend bought me my Ionic for my birthday 17 months ago and it worked fine until we were on vacation and I went in the ocean. Just went wading as to cool down and then I noticed it wasn't working. My initial thought was that the battery was drained. Got back from the beach, rinsed it off, let it dry and then charged it. When charged, it would show day and time but nothing else (no steps, heart rate, etc). The battery also got fully drained in just a few hours. Charged again over night and the same thing. Battery lasted several hours and was drained again.  Tried all the reset recommendations and other trouble shooting and nothing seemed to work. It is totally dead at this time and won't charge and the face is totally black. I certainly would expect a $300 watch to last longer than 17 months. I have read a few threads on saltwater and that could possibly be an issue but again, I just waded into the ocean and was only in there for maybe 10 minutes.

Good luck, the reason I didn’t go with another one is the issues seem to be related to a software update.

I haven't done it yet, I'm nervous given my experience with fitbit but may go 'all out' and get the Garmin Fenix 6x pro solar. Very expensive but apparently will do anything I could ever ask for wrt exercise, trekking, sleep, GPS maps etc etc. Already talked to customer service and they tell me that they don't have an extended warranty. What they do is give you a rebuilt model at a fraction of the cost when out of warranty. Just checking the Garmin community forum in advance of purchase..... Which I should have done with fitbit!!!

FITBIT IONIC :watch: that won't turn on  after 9 months of use

someone with lots of followers needs to bring this to social media to get some attention from FITBIT

Fitbit is well aware of the problem.
Even then, all they say is that they're working on a solution. A company
like Fitbit should be morally responsible for the life of their products,
especially their top of the line Ionic. It's just not fair, the way they're
treating their customers.

Ppl with lots of followers do not use Fitbit but rather a reliable watch 😂

On a more serious note, it is clear that Fitbit dropped the ball and wouldn't do much for its clients other than offering ridiculous discounts for costly devices that didn't last much. It is simply a lesson that needs to be learned, cut your losses and move on. There are other companies.

I called previously asking about warranty etc. and got offers for discounts to purchase a new one.I finally called and asked how to get a replacement and stuck to a replacement not a discount.  Received a new Ionic 5 or 6 days later. Mine was 7-8 months old.

My Fitbit Ionic has suffered a blank screen too. I noticed a few days ago that the steps indicator was flickering but thought nothing of it. This evening I was warned of low battery charge so I put my Ionic on charge. I took it off at 99% saw the screen light up and then went off. Thought nothing of it until I was going for a walk and wanted to see my steps before commencing my walk. The screen would not appear. Nevertheless I went for my walk which was recorded according to the App but I cannot see anything on the screen. Wearing the Ionic my heartbeat is being recorded in real time (according to the App), but not screen. Naturally checked when I bought the watch, and would you believe it - 4 Nov 17, 5 days after the 2 year warranty has expired. What do I do now?

I would try changing the clock face. I got a replacement that worked fine but then it wasn’t tracking my heart rate after a few days on the watch but was on the app. I changed the clock face & things are working again. Hoping that it continues working.

Call Fitbit and ask for a replacement, if you still want one. I was offered
discounts several times. When you call ask them "how do I get a
replacement." Had mine in 6 or 7 days.

Hello,

Mine has also bit the dust less in less than 2 years. I use a heart clock face that I bought from the store. I need to do something sooner than later. What is the quickest way to get a prompt response from fitbit?

Thanks,

If Fitbit Junk would have said "Oh you will get 1 year out of these 300 dollars you spend with us, then you will get Admins to reply to you on their site and act like you said something but you didn't say what they said you said!   I said My Fitbit died in 10 months what will you do for us?  Then it is either silence or they delete your post!  This company is sad news!
