Seems like with my surge, the Elliptical setting still is subpar, have to wear the band almost by elbow to get a reliable HR reading and can't use the bars with my arms as it will not count steps. Only counts steps when you just walk and balance on the eliptical. Can't they fix this setting as an elliptical option knowing your arms will move in a different way (not really up and down, more forward and back)..Any others having eliptical issues (although I guess nothing new, just thought maybe they would have fixed it)

Hi @zummo1,
As far as I know, the tracker isn't supposed to count steps for activites such as elliptical and spinning because it doesn't consider them step-based activities (like walking, hiking or running).
We actually get complaints here that using spinning or elliptical generates unwanted steps and they want to remove them. So I guess it's individual opinion whether steps should be involved or not with elliptical.
Best AnswerAgreed, the fitbit is a joke when it come to tracking elliptical steps. I usually get credited for about 1/3 my steps on the elliptical.
To the person claiming some people want their eliptical steps removed.....I do not believe that at all.
That’s interesting. I did a workout yesterday on my elliptical at home and it did count a good calorie burn for me, but I did not really pay attention to the step count. I will have to do it again and see.

From my expirence I bet you burned far more calories than you thought.
Best Answerive found my ionic is more accurate with distance on the elliptical than my blaze was.
sadly for me the gps is more accurate too and all them 3+ mile walks i had were infact only 2.8 lol
Your the lucky one I only get about half the steps I should and less than half the miles .
i have a Sole E55 and I would be overly surprised if it wasn’t accurate . Thinking Fitbit Ionic was a waste of money so pissed
