Fitbit Update 08/23/2018: Hi everyone!

Just wanted to thank you all for your participation in this thread.

Since the majority of Ionic users have successfully updated to OS 2.1.1 (v32.10.20) I have decided to close this topic to further posts.

If you still have not updated your Ionic to OS 2.1.1, check out this post for some best practices on how to update your device.

If you are experiencing an issue with your Ionic unrelated to the firmware-up process, I invite you to start a new topic on the community or find a related topic.

Thanks again to all the great feedback we have received on this firmware. Looking forward to the next Fitbit OS update! Robot Happy

Fitbit Update - 6/7/18: Fitbit OS 2.1.1 has been released to 100% of Ionic users!

Hi, everyone! Smiley Happy

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.1.1! (Firmware Version: 32.10.20)

We've started to roll out this update to 30% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

You can find the release notes for this new OS version by following the link, here.

Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.

As a reminder, I recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article

If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to post them in this thread.

The app on both my mobile and tablet has turned nearly useless; it won't sync, it thinks it's offline, it won't communicate watchface preferences, it syncs when it says it's not, its's constantly "looking for" my Ionic... you name it.

Interestingly enough, I found out that the Fitbit Windows 10 app works pretty reliably, so I've disabled the app on my phone and just do it on my PC or laptop.

Are you using Android Phone and Tablet?  There was a recent update to the app, when I downloaded it, I have a few issues.  I shut down the FitBit app and rebooted my phone at leaset twice as well as rebooted the Ionic once and it nows seems to be working ok.  I have turned off the 3 settings in the app related to sync as I want to manually sync the Ionic as it seems to improve its battery life.  You might give this a try.

I was having the same issue. I ended up uninstalling the app (Android) and
then installed it again. It seems to be working since then.

Glad you got it to go!!  These things require more patience than I have, so it teaches me about it every other day or so...haha!

Yes, both Android. But no amount of uninstalling, installing, clearing data or rebooting (device and watch) has helped. Sticking with the desktop app right now to at least prevent battery drain on my mobile. And yes, I had already turned off all sync settings and only did it manually.

There was an update to the app this morning for me. The notes say that the
update fixes the battery and connectivity issues. Hopefully this works for
you!

Bummer!  These things are like rolling the dice, sometimes you get a 7 and sometimes you don't!  Good luck!

The phone app. apparently they discovered that the last update to the app
had caused battery draining issues, connectivity issues and random reboot
issues. The notes said this wasn't the complete fix but should solve most
issues.

Yeah, I got that one yesterday, it seems to have helped on the app draining my phone battery and time will tell on the other issues.

This is from the app store (Google Play)
What's new
This applies a temporary fix to the battery and data usage issues. A more comprehensive fix will follow.

Aye did not see that in the notes but that is great to know!!  It seems to have resolved my phone issue.  Can you post a link to their notes?  I think it would be very helpful for folks here as many people were suffering with battery drain etc.

Is the update going to the Microsoft Store (Windows) as well?

I have had several issues since the update. 1.) Runs no longer update to Endomondo. I have disabled the permissions between the apps and re-synced them and still no uploads since Jun 30th. Step count will update to Endomondo but no GPS tracked Activity. 2) GPS is very slow to sync on my watch now. If I go into exercise, select run I have to wait about 3 minutes for the GPS to sync. When I finish my run and select complete, the stats all update. If I select to run again and I am standing in the same spot the run completed at I still have to wait about 3 minutes for the GPS to sync again. 3) GPS track is short about 0.1 mile per 2.75 mile section run. I have verified this with 3 other watches, 3 phones and a few running friends.

I am starting to worry whether buying this Ionic was such a good idea.

I had very few problems with my Blaze. It did not have as many "bells and whistles",

but so far (after reading about all the problems encountered by so many, and after

experiencing so many myself, the "bells don't ring and the whistles don't chirp"!

I feel quite disheartnened (and my wallet feels a lot lighter).

Have I made a mistake, or will things eventually get better?
