Hi all!
I am super excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 1.2! (Firmware Version: 27.31.1.29)
We've begun to roll out this new firmware to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. This firmware update includes:
Feature update:
What’s fixed:

Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
I would also recommend updating your Ionic over Wi-Fi as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

I had no issues setting up and updating by WiFi.
I was actually surprised by how quick the update finished - couldn't have been anymore than 10 minutes.
Although I can't notice any discernible difference in performance and still no useful apps available yet.
Any chance of an update on Deezer? Strava is as good as useless. No extra exercise types.
So I wouldn't worry if you're having trouble updating as it's still the same 'potentially great watch' in waiting.
The lack of apps coming from Fitbit/Notable third parties is concerning

My tablet won't recognize my ionic after the firmware update. How do I restart the ionic? I can't find anything on that in the help info.

I solved my problem w uninstalling the apps in the phone and reinstalled again.
I realised that I can’t wear it during the upgrading. Try again.
Good luck !

It took me about an hour to update it last night but just realized today when I was going for a run that all music files were erased

I had the same issues with my ionic. Fitbit confirmed it was defective and replaced it. No problems since.

@stokedboss, which "same issues" did you have?

I was trying to reply to @AusieGirl’s post of:
Well so much for an update!
Still no no wifi connectivity between app or ionic.
Being forced to update via Bluetooth for several hours. No change.
So still very much a useless product.
Any ideas when Fitbit might make their Ionic compatible with IPhone 7 and Bluetooth as I’ve still got a useless product?

I got the update last night. Performed the update with no issues at all!
I have a Pixel 2 phone.
It took 10 minutes to download the firmware via WiFi and 6 minutes to install it. 16 minutes from beginning to end.

Hahahahahahaha!
I've placed the Ionic ON TOP OF the router and I've yet to get a WIFI connection. Perhaps this firmware update or a subsequent future one will correct that.

Unicode/Hebrew feature suggestion is hopeless.
The suggestion for Hebrew for previous Fitbit was closed as "Not planned".
Ionic is a new watch and it will just miss all non-latin markets.
None will wait years for Fitbit to implement Unicode (not to speak about RTL for Hebrew).
Major competitors have full Hebrew Support.
Is Fitbit tight on funds to keep up?

The problem with WiFi is that the search always ends up with a message "Cant't find device. We're unable to connect to your Ionic". Selecting the SSID and security manually does not yield any results either.
What is worse is I noticed the bluetooth sync has failed today as the iPhone app seems to stopped receiving new information from the watch.

Now that I have this update installed for around one week, I figured it is time for some feedback as far as the good and the bad :
The good:
- Connection to my phone seems to start on its own now. I have to wait for about 10 - 15 or so minutes, but before the update I quite often had to turn Bluetooth off and on after turning my phone on, to establish a connection at all.
- Sync between phone and Ionic seems to be a bit more stable, once it works, it works all day.
- Battery life is better. Before the update I had to charge every 4 days, now I have gone all week without charging, and I am still at 25% left.
The bad :
- Wi-Fi still does not work. It never has. The app tells me it is connected, and the Ionic for that matter shows the Wi-Fi icon when I try and connect, but it will not download anything at all. Have tried with multiple different Wi-Fi connections, but no luck at all.
- The entire upgrade process is a complete disaster. It should not take 4+ hours to get it installed, and multiple attempts to do this. I still do not know how big this last update was, but my home Internet connection is plenty fast to download large files (GB's) in far less then the 4 - 5 hours it took for the Firmware update to come down. Not to mention the fact it has to be done via Bluetooth only .....

I have the latest firmware update installed but ionic will no longer sync to android phone. I have been trying to change clock faces so not sure if this issue is still present?

Got and installed the update last night quick and painless. Did a walk at lunchtime today and the GPS mapped my route way better than before.
Those with issues with notifications....make sure your Do Not Disturb is on? That frustrated me to no end until I happened to turn it off and just leave my phone on vibrate. Has worked flawlessly from then on. (I mentioned this as I haven't seen any mention of it in these forums. Maybe it's just obvious to others, but I missed it, maybe this will help others as well?)

Dreadfull, every day a battle, trying to update tonight took 2 hours and then it crashed half way through. Forget bluetooth eventually it updated through the wifi on my hone but not without an almighty struggle. So tired of this device now.
