Hi all!
I am super excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 1.2! (Firmware Version: 27.31.1.29)
We've begun to roll out this new firmware to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. This firmware update includes:
Feature update:
What’s fixed:

Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
I would also recommend updating your Ionic over Wi-Fi as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

It's unfortunate that the Ionic is such a finicky device. I was having no perceivable issues prior to the firmware update; and now I have an untrustworthy device.
UPDATE: After posting I attempted another Exercise routine, and this time it did not record any heart rate. I'm only attempting to use Fitbit designed watchfaces as well. Looks like I'll be needing to return my Ionic.
UPDATE 2: After working with support, and walking through all the standard troubleshooting one more time, I received the message to plug my Ionic in and set it down for 15 seconds to calibrate sensors. At this time, it appears to be tracking heart rate once again. Will certainly be watching closely and this seems to be some serious hoops to jump through for something it would seem should just work.

Does anything on this watch work consistently? Sometimes it syncs sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I get notifications, most times I don't. I changed my phone since the last time I posted because I was told my phone wasn't compatible. My current phone is supposed to be.
Just a rubbish gadget I think. I've done all the reset stuff, anyone got any ideas?

Just a HEADS UP.
There MIGHT BE a GPS mileage reporting issue. Please have a look. I will try again on Saturday. I am MORE than happy to work with you folks if you want to dig into this. Also HAPPY to give you access to my Fitbit account (and p/w) if you want to look at the data yourself.
Here are some maps etc:

"We fixed an issue where some customers noticed the Exercise app crashed after double tapping an exercise"
I set eliptical exercise going today. After about a minute it vibrated once and went back to clock face, losing the first min record. This has happened a couple of times on previous firmware versions too.
It does allow me to go and start a new session and doesn't fail this time.

IF we can all document what we are experiencing. Thanks. All the best.

@SunsetRunner, I was experiencing the the Ionic crashing on a regular basis during exercises prior to the firmware update, but have not experienced a single crash since the firmware update. I was hoping this had been corrected for all users.

Just been told by Fitbit Support that it is a KNOWN PROBLEM.

It is pretty well documented in the 269 (so far) posts in this thread, isn't it? FWIW, what I am experiencing is no problems with Ionic since the firmware update. Hopefully, this will continue for some time.

This update was supposed to fix a GPS problem, not create one.

I have had mine for nearly 2 months and have spent many fruitless hours trying to get it to work reliably without any success, similar issues to yours. So reluctantly (I like the watch) I have contacted my supplier and they have offered to give me a refund so the search will go on to find a smartwatch / fitness tracker but it won't be from fitbit

Best of luck. Other than this LATEST (just today) GPS problem the Ionic works -- from what I can see. For the last few days I suspected that its Resting Heart Rate was off by 2-3 bpm and that also seems to be the case.
I had two (2) Garmin Vivoactive 3s die on me. I got the Ionic out of desperation. In terms of features the Ionic is pretty lame and it is near FRIGID in terms of responsiveness of the touch screen.
Today -- mine is 3-weeks old.
My GOAL is to stick with it for another 2 months.
Then HOPEFULLY the new Garmin Forerunner 645 will be available and I will get one.
Not sure what I will do with the Ionic.
Right now my druthers is to make a YouTube of me smashing it with a hammer! But, that seems extreme. I might just give it away ...
Cheers.

I've had my ionic for 2 days and having sync issues. I tried deleting device and restarting. the first syn operated fine but staying synced is the issue. I am not happy about paying almost $300 for a watch that is giving me these issues. Is there any resolution to this issue?

Hi, my heart rate monitor stopped working. Is there a way to factory reset the Ionic? Maybe downgrade the firmware back to see if it'll start working?
