Hi all!
I am super excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 1.2! (Firmware Version: 27.31.1.29)
We've begun to roll out this new firmware to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. This firmware update includes:
Feature update:
What’s fixed:
Click here to view our Fitbit OS help article!
Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
I would also recommend updating your Ionic over Wi-Fi as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

@SunsetRunnerwrote:Since this update last night ALL of my notifications have stopped including all texts and calls, on my iphone 8 to my ionic. How can this be fix? VERY FRUSTRATING!!!
@SunsetRunner, have you checked the Ionic to ensure Notifications did not get disabled? From the clock screen, scroll to the next screen to the left and ensure Notifications is set to "Receive from phone", and not Off.

Downloaded and installed update yesterday as described earlier with no apparent problems. However, today discovered Weather App no longer working and never shows weather data on tracker. Syncing otherwise working properly.

Mine took about 45 minutes this morning and had no problems.

Battery was at 85% last night after I upgraded to the new firmware and now the battery is dead (6pm on the next day).
Never had such a poor battery performance with Ionic before.

Voila.
I want to marry with my Ionic.
This is my 12th fitness smart health watch in about 3 years, and I stick to it.
Far out better than all the rest. Period.
@MattFitbitwrote:Hey everyone!
Just wanted to jump in here to thank you all for taking the time to update your Ionic to Fitbit OS 1.2.
After reading through your comments, I can see that some of you were successful in updating your Ionic, while others were not as successful.
@AusieGirl @OggieHocky @bIonicman Sorry to see that you weren't able to get updated. I would definitely recommend following the steps detailed in this article to ensure your Ionic is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.
I would also recommend making sure you are connected to our home Wi-Fi, rather than a work or public network. If you are still having issues connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, I would follow the troubleshooting steps detailed, here.
For those of you who are unable to update via Wi-Fi, you do have the option of updating via Bluetooth. However, I do have to advise that this method will increase the time it will take to finish the update.
If you are having any issues when attempting to update via Bluetooth, there are some great troubleshooting steps detailed in this article to help the process.
@Swdecord @Hendos You can see what was included in this release by following this link to my initial post.
@MikeGn @Blackperl Thanks for your suggestion to add Unicode support to Ionic.
As @OlegM suggested, I would recommend casting a vote for this feature suggestion, as this is the best way for our team to gauge interest in adding new features to Ionic.
@BubbaJojo @Jim-LaQuinta Sorry to hear that your Ionic is no longer syncing. I could recommend following each of the troubleshooting steps detailed in this article. This should help to get your device syncing with Ionic again.
@Fern_23Google changed its permission requirements beginning with Android OS 6.0 (Marshmallow). As a result, the locations permission is necessary to sync your tracker with your Android device. For more information, check out this article.
@USAF-Larry @Ozzie65 @Jnesbitt82 @USAF-Chandler @SunsetRunner Thanks so much for taking the time to provide your troubleshoots. Your assistance is truly appreciated!
I will continue to monitor this thread as we roll out this OS update to more users. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!
No you won’t want to marry your Ionic - especially when you view your sleep metric tomorrow morning!!!

Update worked flawlessly @Fitbit. Nice work.
Respectfully disagree.
- The Cardio PurePuse system works very well on Dynamic workouts - especially Crossfit.
- It is not compatible with any Cardio Band? Its not intended to.
- The step count is overestimated - I have found that its nearly spot on. Does not count vibrations from machines like lawn mowers. Counts the steps only.
- The synchronization system is painful - mine just took less than 45 minutes and worked great.
- Wifi is useless because the data change from Bluetooth (if it works) - mine works well on both.
-The calorie count with food is absolutely senseless - I use myFitnessPal and it integrates great.
Thanks.

as with phone firmware updates, a lot of times, individual apps need to be updated as well so they work with the new firmware. depending on who's app it is (Fitbit or a third party) the time it takes for the app to get an update varies.

Hi all!
I can see that many of you have reported that you did not receive Sleep Stages last night. Just wanted to jump in to provide a quick update.
Our team is aware of the outage and has since resolved the issue. You can expect to start receiving sleep stages again tonight.
I also want to assure you that this outage was not related to the recent OS 1.2 update that was pushed to Ionic users. If you have not already done so, you can safely update your firmware once you have received the notification to do so.
Thanks so much for taking the time to report this! If you have any questions related to the outage, you can follow up with me in this thread.

@MattFitbitThanks for the clarification on this issue. Its good to know it was something unrelated to the firmware. So this functionality is processed on FitBit's servers?

I updated with the new release on my Ionic this morning. Only problem is that having done it the screen response time is now very slow. Essentially if I move my arm to the normal position to look at the watch, the screen no longee comes on, and I have to use the buttons.

This biggest issue with the Ionic is the sync and when I was reading the release note I was very disappointed to see that was not a part of the fixes. I installed the update and confirm that the sync is still not working. When will it be fixed???????

Hi I tried to update my Fitbit Ionic and now it is undiscoverable by my phone or anything else. I have even tried to forget device and turn on and off bluetooth. Now it won't even send a signal to my phone that it is available.

I ran the update and now all i get is a green screen on the Ionic with the fitbit logo. Any ideas about what's happened or how to fix it.

For the syncing, it seems very strange.
When I bought the ionic and not upgrade, the syncing seems to have no problem. But ionic requests me to upgrade before using it. So I upgrade it. Then, the syncing is unstable. After many tries, it can not sync successfully sometimes.
In contrary to your experience, for the newest firmware upgrade, the syncing seems to be much better for me. I just upgrade it today. It may be too soon to say the syncing indeed becomes much better.
But today, when I click the syncing button, it indeed did the syncing immediately.
The reason is unclear.
