Hi all!

I am super excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 1.2! (Firmware Version: 27.31.1.29)

We've begun to roll out this new firmware to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. This firmware update includes:

Feature update:

What’s fixed:

  • We fixed an issue where some customers’ clocks didn’t update after switching time zones.
  • We fixed an issue where some customers experienced syncing issues after interrupting clock face installation.
  • We fixed an issue where some customers noticed the Exercise app crashed after double tapping an exercise.
  • This release also includes bug fixes and stability improvements.

Click here to view our Fitbit OS help article!

Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.

I would also recommend updating your Ionic over Wi-Fi as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article

If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Exercise App crashed one mile into a run. This never happened with prior firmware versions.

My Inonic received New Firmware and it failed twice during Update by Wi-Fi.

I had to Forced Reboot for my Smart Phone and Ionic.

Second time, it seems almost completed, then it seems failed since Ionic shows Gryeen Screen for over 30min.   It seems Ionic got stuck.

It seems not stable Update.....

Hi all.

Just a quick spot check. Glad to see so many of you have successfully updated to Fitbit OS 1.2!

For those of you who have not yet updated, I recommend checking out my initial post which has a link to full instructions to complete the update, here.

@KT-SanDiego If you run into any issues when updating, I have also provided some troubleshooting tips to help get you back on track.

@ChuckHazzard @AMS46 If you Ionic is behaving irregularly after the update, like missing Heart Rate or crashes during exercise, I recommend giving your device a restart to help refresh its system.

If you are still experiencing any issues after the restart, please let me know. Robot Happy

@SunsetRunner Thanks so much for your assistance. Great to see you on the forums!

I has been using the windows phone app, but for various reasons bought an android phone which was set up prior to the update. Windows phone used to sync without any problem, but with android it keep hanging, ive tried chaning the related settings but it doesnt make any real difference. Ionic still works flawlessly though 🙂

@myrinh You will see a red drop down arrow on your phone's Dashboard. It only took me just under 10 minutes to install via the Telco 4G+ network.  I kept my phone and Ionic on the chargers because last time it was close to 2 hours.

3) Restart your phone (completely off and on again)

FYI

After the update to 27.31.1.29 I've had problems to synch the Ionic, both to my phone and PC. It doesnt seem to find my watch and the Ionics GPS is extremely far from correct.

Tested and  Compared to my Polar M600 GPS and my Samsung Galaxy S7 GPS tested at the same time, the Ionic measured less than half the distance. The M600 and my S7 measured exactly the same distance. 15,6km vs 7,4km on the Ionic.

The heartrate sensor is also way off and doesnt come near the accuracy the M600 have. Under todays Hiking activity I noticed the Ionic did not measure the heartrate at all, and had to restart it to make it work, meaning it still was wrong showing 90bpm when I had 145bpm on my M600... This numbers tells a lot how wrong the Ionic has become.

The Ionic also have issues to log the sleep activity after this update, so I would say this firmware is nothing less than a huge dissapointment. I find my Ionic more or less useless and are simply returning it back reclaiming full refund.

Fitbit, I really thought you could do better than this. And for crying out loud, give at least the people a chance to change/set the pace to km/h while running!

No problems at all with the update process. Only problem after update was no sleep patterns the first night, but sleep patterns returned the next night.

Main improvement I see is the weather clock faces work better. Previously had trouble with heart rate flickering on and off with YWeather, but this is not happening after the update. And on other clock faces the temperature and weather info update faster and more reliably.

All in all, very pleased with the Ionic. Best tracker and best watch I have ever had.

I too have a Polar A370 and a Garmin VivoActive3 perfectly in line with my cardio belt ... but with Ionic the values are too much at rest, and low at maximum effort.
My Cardio threshold is 172bpm, but when Ionic is in danger zone around 125bpm .. this is very dangerous ... and absurd.
This does not happen with Polar or Garmin ... Why?

How can I get this update? My ionic GPS disconnected during my run again today (third run in a row).  I'm quickly losing patience,  and am getting nervous about using the ionic on future runs.

Mine did too.  Started the run and was connected to GPS.  An hour and a half later and it was disconnected.  Not complaining but would love for this to be resolved.   I did update my Ionic so I am on the new update.
