Ionic Firmware release - 27.31.1.29

Hi all!

I am super excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 1.2! (Firmware Version: 27.31.1.29)

We've begun to roll out this new firmware to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. This firmware update includes:

Feature update:

What’s fixed:

  • We fixed an issue where some customers’ clocks didn’t update after switching time zones.
  • We fixed an issue where some customers experienced syncing issues after interrupting clock face installation.
  • We fixed an issue where some customers noticed the Exercise app crashed after double tapping an exercise.
  • This release also includes bug fixes and stability improvements.

Click here to view our Fitbit OS help article!

Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.

I would also recommend updating your Ionic over Wi-Fi as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article

If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Yes these steps worked for me.  Thanks! I actually had to do this twice to get HR tracking again. After my morning sync I noticed my HR tracking stopped just after midnight after I went to sleep.  Of course there was no sleep data today but hoping this resolves the issue going forward.

GPS disconnected from what? Never had an issue with GPS

Disconnected from the satellite or whatever ‘connection’ it establishes.  Clicked on exerise/run.  Got the ‘connected’ confirm in top left.   Started run and near end looked at it was disconnected.  No map of the run or pace info etc.  like it never established the connection.  All it showed was time and i think it was white.

Strange. Never happened before the update? Actually I use the same
procedure but have not tried it since the update.

Nope. And not complaining just want to help with working out glitches.   I love this thing—the ionic

I got the notification yesterday (in New Zealand) and did the update this morning. I initially had a problem where the Ionic didn't appear to be connecting with the phone, but I turned off the 'All-Day Sync" option in the app on my phone and then it started almost immediately. It's almost like the Ionic was trying to do a normal synch and this was somehow interfering with the update connection.

Once it started, the update was done in less than 15 minutes.

Just wanted to jump in here to provide a few tips.

@myrinh Not to worry! You will be receiving the update soon. As mentioned here, this is a progressive rollout, so not all users have had the update pushed to their account.

@Johnny-G If you are having a hard time syncing your Ionic to your new phone, I recommend checking out this article for some tips on how to get it syncing again.

@AMS46 @JohnPerry @Andrew103 Great to hear that you were able to get updated! Hope you are enjoying OS 1.2. Robot Happy

@Ionbeast Great to hear your HR is working again!

@Andie1979 I have provided a few additional troubleshooting tips in this post that you may find helpful. If it still isn't completing the update, feel free to let me know where its getting hung up.

@DawnLouise @ppdski @mihsupenn07 I would recommend performing a restart to refresh your Ionics system. If you are still having any issues after, feel free to let me know.

@Balsam Thanks for the assistance!

Hello,

Apologize in advance..but I have had nothing but issues with the Fit Bit app for Android. Appreciate that you run on many OS platforms. This also means it is vital to have an APP that works effectively  to manage all the users/capacity and platforms. It is slow and takes a while to get from screen to screen. Get a error message multiple times.

Most concerning is since the update to which you refer I am unable to gain WIFI access. I have tried all of your steps and have given up for now.

Is there another update on the way for this bug? Or any other suggestions?

This is taking so much of my time and taking away the enjoyment from a great product.

Thanks for your time.

My Inoic upated yesterday, but as I previously reported, Ionic got stcuk at the last stage and I had to forced reset.   Anyhow, Ionic Firmware Version Check shows New Firmware Version.

And it seems working OK for tracing HR, GPS, Sleeping Time etc.

but today (like 24 hours later), my Ionic automatically Reboot when I checked Ionic Time by turning wrist..

I had never such experience before.

I hope it will not happen during my Maratohn Running Race Tracking.

We cannot repeat the same even again.

I hope New Firmware is reliable but I am feeling not good Sign so far from 24 hours experience...

I received the update a couple of days ago without any problem, however, first run on the new firmware and I have no mapping and heart rate is super high.  This is set against significant consistency in HR and mapping both before the upgrade and on a Surge for several years.  I've rebooted my Ionic and I'll try again today...

The update appears to have worked ok, but ever since then, the display will no longer come on when lifting my arm or turning my wrist.

It was working fine immediately prior to the update.

Of course, it is Auto Display.

I am using Ionic over 2 months.

Reboot happened a day right after I updated New Firmware.

I will update if any issue happens again.

Best regards

Sorry, new to this forum. How do I do that?

@Jebbo, you just click on the Accept as Solution link in the post.  But, that should not be done for this thread, since there is no solution to the original post to the thread, which was an announcement and not a problem.

Did I solve his problem or did I not?
