UPDATE: Fitbit OS 2.0 has been released to 100% of users.
Hi all!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.0! (Firmware Version: 27.32.4.19)
We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
What’s New
Fitbit Today:
Introducing Fitbit Today, an updated on-device dashboard that keeps you informed about all of your health and fitness data. Receive action-oriented and personalized content with daily and weekly health and fitness stats, historical activity, exercise summaries, and tips and tricks for using the Fitbit platform. Swipe up from the clock face to open the Fitbit Today dashboard.
Ionic users, your daily stats have moved from the Today app to Fitbit Today.
Music:
You can now add Deezer playlists to your Fitbit watch. For more information on setting up your Deezer playlists on Ionic, check out this article.
What’s Changed
Fitbit Watch Interface:
We made some updates to the way you interact with your Fitbit watch:
To learn more about these changes, open the Tips app on your watch and follow the tutorial.
Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
I recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

I finally got the update today so I can answer my own questions.
I don't have Fitbit pay set up so when I long press on the left button then it shows either the options like "Screen Awake - Auto" and "Notifications - On" or i can swipe left to right and see the controls for the music app currently playing on my phone, which happens to be Google play music right now.
After the first time I did this then now the long press on left button always goes to the music controls, which is nice.
The music controls are,
Up Volume and down volume which can either be tapped on screen or using the upper or lower right buttons.
The other buttons can only be pressed on screen.
Play/pause is an on screen button in the center of the screen.
Buttons to skip to next or previous texts are on screen at left and right.
At lower left there is a button called "..." Clicking that goes to a separate screen where one can pick between controlling music on the phone or music on the watch.
On other screens long pressing on the left button will go to the music controls from any screen, long pressing on the upper right button goes to the notifications. Long pressing on the lower right button does not do anything.
I would say accessing the music controls has improved for me in this version

No, after you've done the factory reset you will be forced to do the software update during the initial setup. You won't be able to use the Ionic until you've completed the update.

Ugh......I can’t believe they thought this new Os was better. Its really bad. Now if your trying to access your “today” info during a work out it sometimes works and sometimes acts as if you tapped the screen to see your steps. Before you had the option to press a button to acess labeled data. Bull**ahem**.

I have been installing this update since 415pm today.... it's now 830pm and it is STILL NOT completed! It has been going on so long that it killed the battery on my phone. So once I got it back on, I went back into my fitbit app to either continue or redo the update, and it will NOT find my iconic!! Huge problem since it is a smidge away from completing the install - I can't even turn it off. It is frozen on the "install" screen on my iconic. WHAT DO I DO?!?!??!?!?!??!?!?!!!

I loved my Fitbit Ionic but not after this 2.0 update. The Today screen is the biggest annoyance. Waiting 0.5 seconds for the Today splash screen to go away is only the beginning. Not pleased with the layout and the inability to revert back.
And whatever happened to swipe right to reveal the battery life?
UPDATE: Anyone getting used to their updated Fitbit? I check the battery life in the Today screen which is starting to make sense. I also see that you can swipe left and right on most of the displays in the Today screen. I may have overreacted a bit. I might be able to get used to this.
One strange thing happened today and it's not clear if I made a mistake. I was "Walking" and I lost my display. I didn't know how to get back to the activity already in progress. It was cold and I was bundled up. Not sure if my heavy sweatshirt brush up against the buttons and cleared my display. Hope it's not a glitch.
I see there's an updated Fitbit app for my Android. Second one in two days? Glad to see the developers on top of any glitches.

Same here. Been trying to update since 5 pm and it's almost 9pm

Where do u find the Today screen now?!?! Nothing happens when i swipe up from the bottom.

EXACTLY!!! Now to view battery life it’s thrown into the “Today” info. Yet swiping right does nothing?!?! Like I said before trying to swipe up to access your “Today” info sometimes just triggers it to cycle through Steps, HR, Cals (depending on your watch face)
But I agree, I was a HUGE fan of my Ionic in literally every way until this Os 2.0. Absolute garbage.

Have you tried restarting the Ionic? (Press and hold the left button and bottom right button together for 15 secs). Hopefully that will get you off of the frozen screen and allow you to restart the update.

I had the update come through without a hitch today. I did not have it setup for Wi-Fi at work so it first informed me that it couldn't find my device and asked to setup the Wi-Fi or update over Bluetooth. After setting up the WiFi everything went smoothly.
I do like the new Today area but did notice some differences from what was implemented and what is shown on the Fitbit OS webpage. When swipping left and right between pages on an item in the today menu, the number of pages and current page are indicated with dots. However in the webpage it shows bars that span the length of the screen. I am sure more people are familiar with dots for this type of functionality but personally I really like the UX with the bars better on such a small screen. I wonder if this a difference between mockups and implementation or if the Fitbit OS page is showing scenes from a current dev branch with some UI tweaks.

I have tried to install this update about 6 or 7 times. I have reset my phone. Reset my ionic. No matter what I do it won't go through.
Status update havebtried another two times. Also tried uninstalling the app and removing the ionic from the account. Still can not get the update to work almost couldn't get the ionic back on the app. I'm ready to return it to the store and be done with it.

Please put back the today app icon. There’s way too many swipes now to get the same data as before. Is there a way to downgrade the upgrade? This new today swipe is absolutely terrible. That’s for screwing up a good app.

Rude much? I've had my ionic since December too and every update means a reboot before it works again but this update took away the "today" app that I use all the time .... Saying it's not that hard (all in caps) is unnecessarily rude I let the update run as always (there isn't much instruction involved )

Why was the option to change from auto to manual to activate watch face? I do not like the watch coming on at night, I would swipe right, switch to manual and sleep well. This new firmware I can not swipe right.
Also, the "Fitbit" app which I could swipe to and view all my stats is gone??? Why??? Now, it seems I must swipe up from the clock home face but not all the stats show, why and where are they now?

This release sucks.. First, it searches for my fitbit, draining my cell battery. Never finds it. whats up. totally frustrated. Reset my iPhone multiple times. I love my fitbit, but this sucks

@tribri, neither are gone - just moved. To change from Auto to Manual, just press & hold the left button. To get to the Today screens, just swipe upwards from the Clock screen - the screens can then be swiped left or right for more data.
