UPDATE: Fitbit OS 2.0 has been released to 100% of users.

Hi all!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.0! (Firmware Version: 27.32.4.19)

We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

What’s New

Fitbit Today:

Introducing Fitbit Today, an updated on-device dashboard that keeps you informed about all of your health and fitness data. Receive action-oriented and personalized content with daily and weekly health and fitness stats, historical activity, exercise summaries, and tips and tricks for using the Fitbit platform. Swipe up from the clock face to open the Fitbit Today dashboard.

Ionic users, your daily stats have moved from the Today app to Fitbit Today.

Music:

You can now add Deezer playlists to your Fitbit watch. For more information on setting up your Deezer playlists on Ionic, check out this article

What’s Changed

Fitbit Watch Interface:

We made some updates to the way you interact with your Fitbit watch:

  • To see your notifications, swipe down from the clock face or press and hold the top button.
  • To see your stats and current battery level, swipe up from the clock face.
  • To access music controls, payments, and the shortcuts screen, press and hold the back button.
  • Access your music controls all on one screen.
  • We’ve changed the order of some of the apps on your watch.

To learn more about these changes, open the Tips app on your watch and follow the tutorial.

Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.

I recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Update 3: never got the update to work and now my ionic has been rendered useless. It's telling me the clock doesn't work I can not use my of the fitness trackers. Nothing works on it at all. Most likely if my husband can not get it working tonight it's going back to the store. Was super excited about it now just exhausted and haven't event had it a week.

I received the update lastnight. It took 40 minutes to do. I like the update so far but I'm wondering if there will be another update before the Versa is released to bring the Ionic up to par. The addition of text replies would be great. I'm sure it will come but can you tell us if its in the pipeline or will the Versa outshine the flagship Ionic once it's released?

@Rach77 I don't think the versa will have quick replies from day one. See footnote 3 in the versa press release

I have been trying to update my Ionic all night with no success. It just stalls in installing. It took forever just to download. I’ve been having issues with this for awhile now. What do I do. I tried a manual shutdown and still did not help.

I tried the update and once it was downloaded, I tried all the new menu options, but every time I swipe up for the today app, it does not work, I have restarted the Fitbit, even gone to factory reset it, but nothing works. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

The new update is worse than old one.It uses buttons to control volume in music mode and notifications .This means more wear and tear on buttons.

I don't like it.

The update went smoothly, but now I don't see the hourly activity (+250 steps) on my watch anymore. It is not in the Today screen (no, not when swiping left or right in that screen either). Where can I find it now? Having a desk job, I find this one of the most important features during work hours! 😉

Please ignore this one: it magically appeared shortly after restarting my device!

Don’t feel left out. I just bought a new IONIC and while the app says an update is available it fails after two seconds. I have been trying for two days. With FITBIT all testing is done by paying customers.

While you changed it to just swipe down to see notifications now you've removed the ability to swipe left and get to see the battery percentage. Was this intentional? That was one of my favorite features on this being able to see an actual percentage as well as having music loaded on the device itself versus carrying a phone with me. It allowed me to track battery usage between updates as well in an easy way now it's just gone.

Used to be I could hold the top right button and see how many steps for the day and for the hour. Now I can't find a screen that has the hour steps on it.

I don't see a lot of improvement here unless you've fixed the crappy Bluetooth, too, but I don't see that in any updates.

EDITED: Found it, but now I have to swipe up twice to get to it instead of pressing one button.  Doesn't seem like an improvement.

@Crissie2389 swipe up from the clock to get to the "today" screen. The battery percentage is on there.

I'm getting the same problem. Once I updated the Fitbit OS and tried to sync it with my iPhone and followed the instructions to log in with my Deezer account, the wifi just won't connect and all I get now is the an announce that Deezer has been installed on my watch. Has anyone had the same problem with their Ionic wifi connexion and Deezer pairing?

Hello! I have just updated my Ionic a few hours ago and once I've tried to connect to my Deezer account, after introducing the activation code on the website as shown on the instructions, my Fitbit Ionic is now not connecting to wifi or letting my pair up with the Deezer account. I have tried everything, from deleting the Deezer app, resetting the wifi connexions, turned down the watch, disable the Bluetooth on my iPhone, but nothing seems to work. Would you please help me?

Personally, this update was a pain in the backside, I started around 6:30pm and finally around 10pm, the upgrade was successful.  I drained my cell battery trying both WiFi and Bluetooth (meanwhile, the app updated stats all the while I was attempting the upgrade).  I did hard resets on the Fitbit several times and reset my iPhone a couple of times.

At least until the next one, I'm happy to report, upgrade success and back to taking steps.  What a crappy experience thought getting this update accomplished.

Got my update finally today. The whole process was fairly effortless for me and I'm really enjoying the new features. One bonus is that I was having trouble setting up a credit card for Fitbit Pay, but I tried again after the after the update and it worked. Very happy.

I updated to the new firmware last night. How do I get into the exercise tab? I want to run later today. I used to press the bottom right button but now that is just for the Coach app. I'm never going to use that. Is there anyway to get my shortcuts for running, biking, swimming, and workouts back?

I was able to update my Ionic after I updated the app on my phone. If you are having issues make sure you update your phone app.

Me too, and it seems to keep creeping up every now and then.  I see this calibration request (and error) only after I have upgraded to 32.4.19.

In the update video it showed that we would be able to quick reply, why am I not able to do it Even though it clearly shows you would be able to. With the new update you have to constantly shut your watch off and restart because it won’t sync, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are constantly being disconnected and It removed several of my apps.
