UPDATE: Fitbit OS 2.0 has been released to 100% of users.

Hi all!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.0! (Firmware Version: 27.32.4.19)

We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

What’s New

Fitbit Today:

Introducing Fitbit Today, an updated on-device dashboard that keeps you informed about all of your health and fitness data. Receive action-oriented and personalized content with daily and weekly health and fitness stats, historical activity, exercise summaries, and tips and tricks for using the Fitbit platform. Swipe up from the clock face to open the Fitbit Today dashboard.

Ionic users, your daily stats have moved from the Today app to Fitbit Today.

Music:

You can now add Deezer playlists to your Fitbit watch. For more information on setting up your Deezer playlists on Ionic, check out this article

What’s Changed

Fitbit Watch Interface:

We made some updates to the way you interact with your Fitbit watch:

  • To see your notifications, swipe down from the clock face or press and hold the top button.
  • To see your stats and current battery level, swipe up from the clock face.
  • To access music controls, payments, and the shortcuts screen, press and hold the back button.
  • Access your music controls all on one screen.
  • We’ve changed the order of some of the apps on your watch.

To learn more about these changes, open the Tips app on your watch and follow the tutorial.

Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.

I recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article

If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

1. I can't for the life of me find the battery level indicator. It says to swipe up from the time and I have tried this but it doesn't work. I used to swipe to the right and it worked. Any help appreciated.

Swipe up one screen from the clock screen, and the battery level will be in the upper left corner.

Why do I keep getting numbers 1-10 set out like a phone. Does this have something to do with me trying to set up wallet (none of my banks seemed to be acceptable)?

Where are you seeing those numbers?

Thank you USAF Larry. I have adjusted my swiping technique and it has
worked a few times. I need to swipe from the bottom of the screen to the
top. Might be something to do with being in Australia 🙂

In regard to the numbers, they have appeared a few times and to get rid of
them I put in the code that I was asked to set up when I tried to set up
'wallet'. I am currently not using wallet as on both occasions I tried to
set it up, it rejected my banks.

Thanks for your assistance.

Id say mine is slightly smoother after the update. The only lag you get is if you swipe up (for fitbit today) it takes a second to load, same with the other apps such as weather, fitbit pay and alarm etc... But scrolling through them doesnt have that stutter you used to get anymore. So maybe they made the apps load slower in reward for better overall stability. When i say apps open slower, i mean 1 - 2 seconds in total.

Just got the new update with Deezer. how do I get rid of it? I hate the new GUI. Why does everything change constantly? None of the directions pertain to this new update. Also, my auto on seems to be turned off and I cannot find how to turn it back on. Seriously considering taking a hammer to this thing.

Hold down the LEFT Button for a second or two,  this will bring up "SCREEN WAKE" set it to Auto

You wait how long for Today to load? My Today screen takes about 5 seconds to pop up.

And the whole thing is VERY stuttery, I have like 5 FPS in animations. If you can't do animations, don't. NOTHING is smooth.

Swipe up [5 secs], left, left takes about 7 seconds just to find calories. This is worse. How is this better than the initial one-stat-per-line with the ability to hold and reorder? Yes this has history, but if it's a HISTORY lesson, why call it TODAY?

You have basically relegated me to cramming all my stats on the watch face, because that is the only thing that is quickly available.

And I certainly don't understand why swiping from top is now notifications. I have just gotten used to bottom swipe, now it's randomly top. Is it because iPhones have top swipe and some kid complained? How does it make sense to swap things around?

And why did you leave a useful feature, swiping right, empty? There is literally a black screen there. Why not let me see battery level and other info, since I can't hold and interact with that screen? It would be perfect for a status screen. Gone. Hidden behind 7 seconds just to see battery.

This is basically the perfect UI storm:

* Swap thing around from people who got used to the old UI

* Leave buttons and gestures empty (Too many controls?)

* Overload other controls (Too few controls?)

How you managed to have the drawbacks of too many controls and too few controls I don't know. The only explanation I can think of is that this is not really 2.0, it's more of a 1.9 beta, and features are still in testing and adding. It certainly feels like this is mid way between two designs, no Ui designer would sign off on this monstrosity. Empty swipe controls while introducing hold for buttons?

Framerate sure seems to support this proposition.

And since I'm complaining, music transfer takes FOREVER, over 1.5 hours for 1 GB, even though I have a powerful AP and a beastly PC. Why did you implement wifi transfer, if you are going to do 227 KBPS? Also, I hope that port is incidental and you did not make a watch on battery do HTTPS for no reason. Also also, why a spin animation? How hard is a progress bar?

I'll tell you why it takes an hour, because the app says "Transferring", the watch says "Transferring" and the AP and the router report "0 kbps". No idea what the issue is, I am literally 1 meter away from a Unifi PRO.

Oh, and, transferring 1 GB eats 20% of the battery. Seriously, how hard is it to just transfer a file when you have wifi implemented? Why the playlists?

Yes, yes, I'm ranting. I don't know what I expected. Fitbit did the exact same thing to my Surge and changed important things after I bought it. I should just buy a Charge. Those never change.

Same thing for me. I have tried 3 times and it hangs up about halfway thru the install part! Very frustrating.....

As I stated above.....I think it’s utterly ridiculous that previously everything was laid out nicely. You could access your “Today” stats with the press of a botton If you so desired. Swiping right did something very functional. The list goes on.... It was just well thought out and functioned extremely well.

Now you MUST swipe up to see “Today” stats and sometimes this just triggers to cycle through things on accident depending on your watch face especially when doing an activity! You don’t want to have to swipe up perfectly....give me the option to make it a right button function (again!) Now all the “Today” stats are crammed into a line and not labeled so I hope brand new users figure out what all the logo icons for things line distance and active mins etc. The payment option is now mixed in with three other things so if you’re in a busy check out you’re having to swipe through where as before you didn’t. Now instead of simply swiping right to turn off auto screen and notifications it’s lumped in with holding the right button. Swiping down AND holding top right button does the same exact function while swiping right does nothing?!

If Fitbit is going to change something to make it better that’s fantastic. But DO NOT change things for the sake of making them different and “new!”

Os 2.0 is garbage....Extremely disappointed!

What do you think of the recent update?.  I don't like the changes to the watch i much preferred it the way it was, not so much swiping and tapping. and in saying that my Fitbit just died (black screen)  had plenty of battery life but just could not get it to work.  Finally did a reset and it came back on again but this has only happened after the latest update last night. Is anyone else having problems after the new update?

My OS2 update went like this. Slow blue screen followed by flashing diamond followed by quicker blue screen ending with green screen then reboot. Done. Be patient takes about 10 minutes.

Ok. I called Fitbit and got some help.  If you have an I-phone you have to double tap home  button, close all screens. I was told that this slows process and shuts down WiFi.  You can’t touch your phone either and should be with your tracker close to the router. It should then only take about 30-45 minutes.

Issue with syncing continues. It won't even connect to the phone by any means. No way to sync it. I have been trying since afternoon. Going to try factory reset on Ionic. I just can't understand why do they release the firmware without knowing that it will be causing so many issues?? someone messed up.
