UPDATE: Fitbit OS 2.0 has been released to 100% of users.

Hi all!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.0! (Firmware Version: 27.32.4.19)

We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

What’s New

Fitbit Today:

Introducing Fitbit Today, an updated on-device dashboard that keeps you informed about all of your health and fitness data. Receive action-oriented and personalized content with daily and weekly health and fitness stats, historical activity, exercise summaries, and tips and tricks for using the Fitbit platform. Swipe up from the clock face to open the Fitbit Today dashboard.

Ionic users, your daily stats have moved from the Today app to Fitbit Today.

Music:

You can now add Deezer playlists to your Fitbit watch. For more information on setting up your Deezer playlists on Ionic, check out this article

What’s Changed

Fitbit Watch Interface:

We made some updates to the way you interact with your Fitbit watch:

  • To see your notifications, swipe down from the clock face or press and hold the top button.
  • To see your stats and current battery level, swipe up from the clock face.
  • To access music controls, payments, and the shortcuts screen, press and hold the back button.
  • Access your music controls all on one screen.
  • We’ve changed the order of some of the apps on your watch.

To learn more about these changes, open the Tips app on your watch and follow the tutorial.

Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.

I recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

@Trickyazzowrote:

What do you think of the recent update?.  I don't like the changes to the watch i much preferred it the way it was, not so much swiping and tapping. and in saying that my Fitbit just died (black screen)  had plenty of battery life but just could not get it to work.  Finally did a reset and it came back on again but this has only happened after the latest update last night. Is anyone else having problems after the new update?

I'm still going to wait to update until issues are resolved (may take a very long time), as there are still people posting in this thread, which seems to be every couple of minutes, of issues with regards to the update.

Learned my lesson from last firmware update... I'll wait until there are more guarantees this update works fine for a bigger proportion of users. I find it very strange some of you seem to have no problems, while others face one or more, more or less serious, issues.

Another thought. Is Fitbit outsourcing it's QA department? To us, users?

I agree with everything in this post.  "Today" implies today, not history, that belongs in a separate "history" app.  The load time to the initial screen is far too long and the fact that the data then doesn't stay on the screen but defaults back to the clock face is ridiculous and makes accessing current stats useless.  To look at anything requires swipe, swipe, swipe ad infinitum, not exactly instant access.  What's wrong with pressing buttons?

Also, my "steps per hour" don't display very quickly.  There was always a delay on the Ionic (not so on the Blaze) but now it's about 150 steps behind - the total number of steps shown increases as I walk but the steps per hour only increases every 30-60 secs.

It would appear that the changes are not as a result of User requests but the desire of an over-ambitious developer - perhaps Fitbit should have released a beta version to some testers first and taken note of feedback.  Had I been aware that these changes were in the pipe line I would not have purchased an Ionic but would have continued to use my Blaze so this has been a very expensive mistake for me.

Njd3051 and Ramhad3, Screen Wake (AKA Quick View) and Notifications settings are shown by a long press of the left button.

For what it is worth, and I will be short, I find the upgrade an improvement. Additionally, I do realize it is just my watch. Good luck to all.

Hi Martyn,

I see your point, but going to the Music app does not allow you to choose music from your playlist at all. It simply gives you a chance to get to the music app and connect to your headset. Fitbit just dont get this! People want to access their playlist and play whatever music they like and not being "locked to a music-app" that you can only skip a song with.

Last point: under the "Today" function Fitbit have made some great improvements with their last update! Now you can see the time and calories you spent during your workout. But who on this planet even care of the time and calories?? The interesting part of a workout session is your pulsezones during your workout, the distance and your pace (not pace in useless 10" 8" but understandable km/h). Why not Make it possible for people to chose pace in standard units like km/h or m/sek

I kitesurf a lot and the "pace unit" does not make any sense at all, and the GPS is so inaccurate that its not even worth starting a exercise with this Ionic brick on my hand. At least until Fitbit does something about this. Question is when?

Come on Fitbit! Start listening to your customers and do some improvements that stands out and make the Ionic worth something.
