UPDATE: Fitbit OS 2.0 has been released to 100% of users.
Hi all!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.0! (Firmware Version: 27.32.4.19)
We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
What’s New
Fitbit Today:
Introducing Fitbit Today, an updated on-device dashboard that keeps you informed about all of your health and fitness data. Receive action-oriented and personalized content with daily and weekly health and fitness stats, historical activity, exercise summaries, and tips and tricks for using the Fitbit platform. Swipe up from the clock face to open the Fitbit Today dashboard.
Ionic users, your daily stats have moved from the Today app to Fitbit Today.
Music:
You can now add Deezer playlists to your Fitbit watch. For more information on setting up your Deezer playlists on Ionic, check out this article.
What’s Changed
Fitbit Watch Interface:
We made some updates to the way you interact with your Fitbit watch:
To learn more about these changes, open the Tips app on your watch and follow the tutorial.
Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
I recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

I agree with everything you say.
I'd add that my Ionic doesn't sync as frequently to my phone after this update, so the app now rarely shows up to date data.
I don't see anything positive at all in this update.

Totally agree, for five years I’ve been suffering just paid out for a new Fitbit like a fool, and here in the U.K. struggling to get money back. I asked Fitbit they said you can have a new one, I said NO THANKS. I’ve never seen such a mess in my life! Good for you.

Since this nightmare update which was quite the process to install in itself, I now can’t all day sync or get any notifications to my Fitbit. I’ve followed the troubleshooting steps for iPhone numerous times and never works. Just the continuous circle of waiting appears. Anything else to try? Or will this be fixed in the next update?

I contacted Fitbit. They say it is an issue with the newest IOS and should be fixed soon with an update. We’ll see...

Megan,
I have to agree with all of the miserable reviews and frustrations being communicated regarding this update.
The tracker worked JUST FINE when I first set it up, but the update to the firmware has made it all but useless. Constant reboots, inability to connect/sync, HOURS spent updating after resetting to factory settings, etc.
I worked with a support person over chat to attempt to resolve the issues, and the additional reset to factory settings and subsequent update to the firmware allowed the tracker to work semi-properly for one (ONE!) day before it stopped syncing again.
What is the use of selling a product, then updating it to make it less that the original? I'll repeat my earlier comment about the tracker. Not only does it appear to be useless piece of technology - it's an EXPENSIVE useless piece of technology that Fitbit has pawned off to users who have become accustomed to reliable products. Pretty sure they're happy to line their pockets and laugh at all of us who bought into this piece of crap.
I've spent the better part of this morning attempting to reconnect and sync the device again, with no luck. Tried on the app using my phone, tried with my laptop via bluetooth, no luck with anything. I basically have a watch that SOMETIMES shows the time when it isn't rebooting and failing to log steps, floors, and calories burned.
I got this crummy piece of garbage to join my office team in fitness challenges, spending the SIGNIFICANT extra money to ensure I got an item that was water resistant enough to handle my daily routines. I refuse to buy into the iZombie crowd, so I guess I'm going to have to go the Garmin route. Their products, at least, seem to have a more reliable product, though the user interface isn't as friendly or as useful as the Fitbit dashboard.
I don't see any solutions being offered to the community other than the suggestions to manually reset or do a full factory reset of the devices. Such actions should NOT be necessary on a daily basis. Especially when the updates take over a half hour to load and install. These things are supposed to allow us to have a seamless way of tracking stats, but the Ionic has been anything but such a device.
I plan to spread the word as a serious detractor of this particular offering from Fitbit. I can only imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth that will be experienced by the purchasers of the Versa that's coming out soon. I see no reason why that one should be any more reliable, though it is certainly more expensive.
It's a real shame considering the other, much more reliable products my family has purchased from Fitbit.

After 12th tries, I was able to update my ionic. I did it through WIFI using my computer, not my phone, and had to use internet in a coffee shop. Not sure why it didn't work in the other 3 places where I tried before. I did reset factory of my watch and reinstalled the app in my computer. The update took around 2 hours total. It was a little bit slow at the beginning but it was better working at the end.
Because I am using my other fitbit, I have not checked for battery usage yet. I was able to change my screen and see a little bit of the new features. I noticed a small delay after swiping to the side, but this happened right after updating the watch.
I really hope Fitbit finds a better way to update its devices. This was very frustrating and almost making move to another device. I won't buy accessories nor products related to this watch until I see consistency.... that for sure!

After the update, I went from 4 days of battery to one.
This is also buggy - swipe down looks like about "10 FPS" vs. the previous at about 40.
Fix coming?

I had 3 trouble free weeks before the update. I don't seem to have any issues syncing but it will reboot every 10 to 40 minutes.

I assume you've rebooted the fitbit and your phone?
I had issues as well, took several attempts, I rebooted twice and it worked.

just FYI, the Versa has the same FW version.
y'all might check the Versa forums once in a while to see if they share the same issues or not.

Yes, I did a factory reset and uninstalled/reinstalled the app. But the update automatically installed in setup.

I’m also having trouble uploading my ionic. I was working just fine and stayed connected to my iPhone since I tried to update my Fitbit yesterday it won’t connect to my phone anymore. I’m getting really tired of all the problems with my Fitbit products

Please suggest this improvement here too, maybe our votes will count to have these updates

When will you sync with Amazon Music? I've never heard of Deezer and won't pay for another music app.

I was able to get my Ionic updated, however when I hold down the left button I get a screen that says screen wake & notifications. The only way I can access my music is to slide left from the clock screen. Is this a setting or is my update not working properly?

Hi guys,
I think we are all victim for this firmware update.
Now my Fitbit Ionic is completely useless even I have tried many times including contacting customer support. To get Fitbit to wake up and take responsibility, I think it is fair to return and asking for fully refund.
Please let me know if you agree that Fitbit should take some actions toward this situation.
