UPDATE: Fitbit OS 2.0 has been released to 100% of users.

Hi all!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.0! (Firmware Version: 27.32.4.19)

We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

What’s New

Fitbit Today:

Introducing Fitbit Today, an updated on-device dashboard that keeps you informed about all of your health and fitness data. Receive action-oriented and personalized content with daily and weekly health and fitness stats, historical activity, exercise summaries, and tips and tricks for using the Fitbit platform. Swipe up from the clock face to open the Fitbit Today dashboard.

Ionic users, your daily stats have moved from the Today app to Fitbit Today.

Music:

You can now add Deezer playlists to your Fitbit watch. For more information on setting up your Deezer playlists on Ionic, check out this article

What’s Changed

Fitbit Watch Interface:

We made some updates to the way you interact with your Fitbit watch:

  • To see your notifications, swipe down from the clock face or press and hold the top button.
  • To see your stats and current battery level, swipe up from the clock face.
  • To access music controls, payments, and the shortcuts screen, press and hold the back button.
  • Access your music controls all on one screen.
  • We’ve changed the order of some of the apps on your watch.

To learn more about these changes, open the Tips app on your watch and follow the tutorial.

Instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.

I recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Got the update downloaded tonight and so far I love it! The new interface on the watch is great. I really had no problems with the update at all, took about 15 minutes. Any idea when the O2 sensor will be useful?

Can someone please tell me what this update is supposed to deliver?

From what I read in the opening post in this topic, it seems to be a very minor update. This while the previous update introduced a zillion connectivity issues. Not a word about those now...

I finally got my Ionic working after days of troubleshooting 3 weeks ago. I'm very hesitating to proceed with the new firmware. I lost trust in Fitbit. Are they capable in delivering decent software?

From what I read here, it's probably better not to install the new firmware. I'm worried that I will need to spend again days of troubleshooting.

Here 's the changelog https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2302

Working very well for me.

@Thank you @Giampi71

That's what I read indeed in the opening of this topic. But I see only minor changes. Just navigation and Deezer. No fixes. And the Ionic needs fixes...

This update seems to be merely cosmetics. Allowing Fitbit to close down the topic on the previous update which was catastrophic.

I'll wait with this one.

Yes, the new  version is totally crap. Fitbit Today does not show in my Ionic when swiping up on clock screen. The clock face cannot even  be changed now and sends error messages. Please do not release new versions until fully tested and polished

I just updated my ionic to Os 2.0 and I think it’s awful!!! Swiping certain ways does nothing anymore yet there’s things that are totally redundant (swiping down and holding top left button both access notifications now......why?!)

The “Today” must be accessed by swiping up and the data is all crammed together and no longer labeled blah blah blah......I see no improvemts what so ever with this Os.

I’m curious if there’s a way to go backwards to the Os prior to this update? Please say there is.

I’m disappointed that long pressing either right button is no longer an app shortcut. Previously I had top-left as a flashlight shortcut. Without even looking at the watch I could activate a :flashlight:

Why remove functionality? How is this an improvement? Can I change this behaviour?

Update:

My error 😬. Short-pressing acts as an app-shortcut. Long pressing top-right brings up notifications.

Long press and drag the apps you want to map to the buttons to the first two app positions on the first screen. So the top left hand app will be mapped to the top right button and the bottom left hand app will be mapped to the bottom right button.

Hi N8teGee,

Yes the assignment of apps to buttons is the same as before. I mistakenly thought this functionality had been removed.

Not sure why a right-swipe gesture on the clock screen has been removed.

On a positive note: the watch seems more responsive. E.g. pre OS 2.0 loading the Alarms app would take around 6-7 seconds. That’s now down to 2 seconds. For those interested in performance and who are running the old SW, it may be interesting to compare application loading times before and then after the OS 2.0 update.

Hi,

I got the update in Bulgaria. Smooth update for less than 15 mins.

Really like it.

Keep going great work.

Waiting for more feature updates!

Updated last night, around 20 minutes. No problems, happy owner. 😁

Received the update late last night, put my Ionic on charge and went to sleep, woke up this morning with the update installed, didn't have to do anything else. Quite happy that everything seems stable and screen seems nippy with the swiping. Tried my Anker Soundbuds Bluetooth headpones, again everything is fine, like the new music controls, however............what happened to the Bluetooth connected notification when the headphones are turned on ?

Ionic updated fine last night. But now music controls are gone. Can raise/lower volume with up/down buttons but that's about it. No play/pause, no ffwd. Bug? Intention? Definitely a step down

I just got the update notification in my Fitbit app as I was not part of the initial ten percent (at least I don’t think so, anyways), but I will wait to update until the bugs are for the most part ironed out, because many people are still having issues with the updated firmware.

The update went smoothly, but now I don't see the hourly activity (+250 steps) on my watch anymore. It is not in the Today screen (no, not when swiping left or right in that screen either). Where can I find it now? Having a desk job, I find this one of the most important features during work hours! 😉

Last update went bad for me so I came here to complain.

This one went really smooth so I came here to praise it. It only took about 30 minutes on my home wi-fi and I didn't have to reset anything, it just worked.

I like the new firmware, notifications coming down from above feels much more natural and Deezer integration is much more civilized for transferring music.

Overall, the Ionic is shaping up nicely. Now if they would only include quick message replies, accept / reject calls on Android and some stats from the spO2 sensor this would become a complete success in my opinion.

"I got the update; it went smoothly. Unfortunately now it is telling me to calibrate the sensors and won't accept anything. It keeps saying 'make sure nothing is obstructing the sensors'. I've tried everything. Flat surface, dark room, light room, nothing works. It just gives a calibration error. The only thing I can do is tap 'Later' and hopefully it'll work again then."

I'm getting the same thing

I'm in New Zealand. Saw the update message in the phone app when I got home from the gym tonight and went to synch the stats with the Ionic.

I made sure my phone was connected to my home wifi and bluetooth was on. I plugged the phone into one USB port on my laptop and the Ionic into aother one. Then I clicked the button in the phone app to start the update. It worked first time, and took maybe 20 minutes max.

I'm just looking at the differences now. It looks quite good. Perhaps the only "down side" so far is that a swipe is allocated to to the FItbit Today option. I use the Fitbit Arc clock so much of that (or very similar) information is available with that clock by tapping the screen and I already use that a few times a day, so the swipe up function is "wasted" and I'll probably only use it very rarely, if at all, unless they add something else/special to it.

Didn't work. My watch shows the app logo and no buttons work. Can't get it to disconnect from iPhone...shut down wi-fi and bluetooth. Watch will not respond since uploading update. Help!

No, still no way to reply to texts. Maybe there will be another update before the Versa is released to bring the Ionic up to par.

Went thru to full bar on both watch and phone. Stuck on full blue screen. **ahem**

I received the update lastnight. It took 40 minutes to do. I like the update so far but I'm wondering if there will be another update before the Versa is released to bring the Ionic up to par. The addition of text replies would be great. I'm sure it will come but can you tell us if its in the pipeline or will the Versa outshine the flagship Ionic once it's released?

Updated to os2 without a hitch

I tried to Deezer but music does not sync to watch.

Has anyone gotten it to work with watch?
