I like to use the GPS on my Ionic to record my bike rides, I get lots of data including a map which I sync with Strava, and this is great, as I can start with one button on the watch, and leave my phone at home.
I'd love to do the same when walking, but though both Walk and Hike exercises seem to use the GPS on the watch they apparently only use this to work out how far I've been, and they don't seem to save the GPS data. I've tried downloading TCX files, and they're essentially empty.
Am I doing something wrong, or is it simply not possible to track walking/hiking with maps from the Ionic alone?

@lnr_blair, in the phone app Exercises->Walk ensure that GPS is enabled. If it is enabled, it should map the walk the same way it maps Hike, Run, and Bike.

It is enabled, and I see it connecting to the GPS, and giving me distance markers as I go - it's just not giving me a map or any TCX data at the end. And it's not currently working in Hike or Walk, but is in Bike - not tried a Run recently.
