Ionic: GPS pauses when recording walk every time i look at the time etc. Does not show as paused?

When using the record activity mode for walking, the GPS stops every time I turn the screen on to look at the time etc. Last time I noticed that the steps still counted and the timer was still running so I thought it was all good but when I finished I found that the tracker had stopped recording and the final 1.5km or so were not recorded. I find it frustrating that it doesn't look paused but when you finish it says Unpause?

Another annoying aspect is that you cannot edit any activities. Ok so some people may cheat...that's their problem, but the distances for swimming and now walking are not accurate. I did expect more from this device at the price NZ$440. Since the latest update it takes twice as long to sinc. Plus I spent 5 hours loading the upgrade into phone then watch. The previous two hours were spent trying to connect...Upgrade?? Yeah right!

@DebDarl, how do you "turn the screen on to look at the time"?  Are you pressing the bottom right button to turn on the screen?

Usually I just do a double tap or push the left button. How should I be doing it?
