Hi,
I've had my Ionic a while but never really had much use to view the GPS tracking until recently.
How I thought it would work is that the GPS would automatically track my movements once my Ionic autodetected that I was running / walking / playing a sport. Whilst the Ionic autodetects my exercise fine, the GPS doesn't then kick in so I have no GPS data. If I manually trigger an exercise via the Ionic's exercise app the GPS tracks me fine so there's no issue with connecting to satellites.
So how do I get my Ionic to track me automatically via GPS after it autodetects than I'm exercising?
Many thanks for any help.

Blappy,
I am just another customer like yourself, not a fitbit employee, but I believe this is intentional. Since the GPS uses significantly more battery I think the intention is that if you have not specifically turned on your run or walk or hike exercise it is conserving battery by not turning on the GPS, especially as it can not differentiate between a treadmill vs outdoors just by your movement.
I am not sure if there is a way to change this in settings somewhere.
best of luck
