So disappointed. The Ionic has been awesome since July 2018. A month ago the HR monitor stops working. Haven't had time to deal with it before now. So I look it up, did the factory reset and it worked for a couple hours. Stops again. I expect more from a watch I spend this much money on. Just sayin' I upgraded from the Blaze which I ruined with water - my own fault (don't swim with a Blaze on). So I paid for the "better" watch. Please, Fitbit, this is seemingly a common problem - your reputation is on line here.

Hmm? Judging by the number of complaints on this forum -> not sure actually how concerned they are about reputation. They may say they are but true valid actions to correct “known issues” does not happen much. So that is very questionable.
There is no reason for your HRM not to work properly after a reset to new. Unfortunately no one on this forum has authority to send you a replacement. So often is better to just contact Tech Support directly. Many others has followed this recommendation -> and now have replacement watches or have refunds to buy another watch.

@Whistler888 You're right, I was frustrated when I wrote that. However, my point stands that you shouldn't have to reset the device to get it to work. It should just work as advertised.

Out on a ride on Sunday, going up a massive hill and thought I’d look at my heart rate and low and behold it wasn’t showing ??? Very disappointing as that’s what I bought it for, also my brand New Ionic isn’t counting every flight of stairs currently counting around 70% of them which also is disappointing, the only answer I get is do a complete factory reset (which I done at the start)

Agree 100%. You should not have to reset anything is my position. It should just simply work as expected. Expecting anything less makes no sense. Fitbit realizes this and accordingly sends out replacement devices. This “zero tolerance” makes sense. Just that most do not call and do all the troubleshooting protocols with them. So live with a defective device causing a bunch of frustration.

I’ve done the factory reset, and pressed the left and top right button, it’s not an accurate floor counter at all, I’ll check again on my next ride if the heart rate monitor goes blank with heavy exercise but for a £200 unit it’s a little on the disappointing side to say the least.

This has happened to me twice since getting my Ionic in February last year usually after an update, it is a annoyance but both time I manually turned off the Heart Rate feature in the setting app on the watch itself for a minute or 2 and then turned it back on and it was working fine again.
Not sure if you have sorted it out yet but you should this a go if it happens again. Much quicker then resetting the whole watch! 🙂
