Ionic Language Changing by Itself

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Issue: No matter how many times I set the tracker "language" to English, it changes itself back to Japanese at least twice a day at seemingly random times.

Details:

After my two month old Ionic stopped working last week, I received a replacement body Tuesday. It is now Saturday. I live in Japan, which rather obviously is a Japanese speaking country.

• My iPhone system language is set to English

• "Time Zone" in the iPhone app is set to Tokyo, and "Set Automatically" is disabled.

• "Location" in the iPhone app is set to United Kingdom, and "Automatic" is disabled. Despite this, it keeps changing itself back to Japan.

• "Language by Region/Country" on online dashboard is set to United Kingdom (English U.K.)

• I have tried turning it off and on again. Many many times. I've deleted and reinstalled the app. I haven't factory reset the Tracker because it's already factory reset—it's brand new and was doing this from day one.

Manually changing the "Location" in the iPhone app changes the language back to English, but despite "Automatic" being disabled, it changes back to Japan a few hours later regardless. What am I doing wrong here?

@CoalMiki A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the troubleshooting tried prior to posting.

I appreciate the detailed information shared. It's pretty weird that even though your iPhone system is set to English, your Ionic changes to Japanese.

The language on your watch will change if you change it on your phone settings. I would like you to double check that the option to automatically detect your country is disabled by doing the following:

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab
  2.  > your profile picture.
  3. Tap Advanced Settings > Country.
  4. Turn off the option to automatically detect your country
  5. Change the country and sync your watch

Let me know how the troubleshooting goes. I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I tapped on my profile picture, but there was no Advanced Settings item.

No "Advanced Settings"No "Advanced Settings"

Under App Settings, I checked Location and Automatic was set to off, even though it had literally just minutes earlier switched itself back to Japan.

Time Zone "Set Automatically" is also set to Off.
