Hello,

I just recently bought iphoneXs and it seems that when i try to search the fitbit Ionic with Bluetooth it doesn't show up, however it seems that only works with my iphone6s & I've paired it with my Microsoft windows laptop.

I even deleted my profile and try to re-create that with setup a new device using the fitbit app but no luck.

your suggestion and help is highly appreciated.

Regards

Make sure your tracker has been forgotten from the old phone or turn that phone off while you try to connect to XS. Did that help?

Please try turning your 6S off completely (holding side button until slide to off appears) to see if your XS will connect (remember discovery is an automatic function on iphones, you can't turn the function off - just the phone to stop the action). If you are afraid you will miss a call or something, slide off bluetooth completely in settings - not sure enough but can try it if you are reluctant to turn off.

Come back and let us know if the discovery battle ends and connection occurs...

Have you factory reset your Ionic?

Best Answer

@SunsetRunner Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for taking the time to post the situation you are experiencing with your iPhone XS not pairing with Ionic. Thanks for trying for trying to create a new account to pair it as well as for trying the steps provided on this thread.

Are you still experiencing the same? I see this thread has an accepted solution marked. Did you tried the factory reset steps and that helped you out with this?

I was checking the list of supported device and I see that the iPhone XS is not listed there. This may be the reason if you happen to keep experiencing the same. However, there are users that have been able to pair and sync with this phone.

@Giampi71 @wmchapman Thank you very much for sharing your experience and help on this thread.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Ionic not sync with IPhone Xs.

I have a new iphone Xs. I have done the following and it will not sync with my Ionic:

1–disconect ionic from old phone and erased the account on old phone.

2–reset ionic to factory, then upgrade software.

3–install fitbit app and restarted on new Iphone Xs

4–tryied for 3-4 hours to connect and sync with iphone Xs and Ionic.

None of these steps helped. The ionic is still not sync with iphone Xs.

Any suggestions? Maybe fitbit needs to release some type of software upgrade?

I am experiencing the same problem pairing my Fitbit to my iPhone XR? I tried to solutions that were listed with no luck. Extremely frustrating

I finally got fitbit to pair with new iphone Xs. What must happen is:
1- the fitbit mobile tracker must be uninstalled from previous phone. 2-Previous phone must be turned off.
3-Fitbit ionic must be restarted and “upgraded” prior to pairing.

The whole process takes too long though. Plan on 40-50 mins.

Nice to see that you're digging into the Forums @Bonsaitopia and @rka63, let me give you a warm welcome to our Community. Robot Happy

Thanks for sharing your experience. @SunsetRunner Did you try the steps that @Bonsaitopia suggested. As @SantiR mentioned, if  your phone is not there you might  have the option download the Fitbit App, but Fitbit can not assure that all the features will work flawless. You can keep trying to connect with your phone, since other users have reported good results after checking these steps.

First check the requirements:

  • Bluetooth service must be turned on
  • Make sure the Do Not Disturb setting on your mobile device is turned off because it prevents the device from sending notifications to your tracker.
  • The software on your mobile device is updated.
  • The Bluetooth setting on your mobile device is on. To check, tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  • If you use more than one Bluetooth phone, tablet, or computer to sync, the other one isn't nearby (or has Bluetooth disabled).
  • Your tracker's battery should be fully charged.

After checking the requirements, try the following:

  1. Restart your tracker a couple of times and make sure that it is fully charged
  2. Reboot your phone and check that you phone and Fitbit App is up to date
  3. Open Bluetooth Settings on your phone and delete your Ionic from there (forget device)
  4. Open Fitbit App > Account > Ionic > Remove device (tap on the trash can in the upper right corner)
  5. Reboot your Bluetooth and double check that it is not connecting from there
  6. Force quite the App. Open it again Account > Set up a device

Hope this helps and welcome again! Heart

You might want to try anyway since XR and XS are practically the same minus some higher-end hardware on the XS

I added a XR yesterday @rka63

Turned bluetooth off

Went to fitbit App and deleted my Ionic from my Account.

(touch index card in corner, touch pic of ionic, scroll down to "remove")

Closed the App

Turned bluetooth back on

Opened fitbit App, went to Accounts again, used the Add a New Tracker dialog.

re-pairing was part of the dialog.

Notifications are rock solid the last 24 hrs.

Most of the users might be upgrading their iPhones.

After they restore from their backup, the new phone takes on the same name as the previous one.

Hence while trying to discover a device, the device does not recognize the new iPhone as a new device. It still thinks it is the old one.

Once I went to the device and "forgot my old iPhone", I was able to connect my iPhone XR to the device immediately.

Hi @rka63 and @nandu33 nice to see you here on the Forums. Thank you @Giampi71 and @wmchapman you were of great help.

Thanks for all the steps that you've tried with your Ionic. I think that you can try to sync with your  phone.  We're currently receiving feedback about different devices that are not in the list of tested devices. And our team is working hard to add as many devices as they can but In this case, as this model is not there; we can't assure the Fitbit App will be working flawless.

Our best recommendation is trying to sync or set up via computer, laptop, or any other compatible devices. The steps above sound very useful, you can definitely give it a try.

Let me know if you have more questions about it.

I removed my Ionic from the app, did a factory reset on the Ionic, began the pairing process, it has been well over an hour and it is still on the screen where I verified the4 digit code on the Ionic.  The old phone was completely wiped when I upgraded at the Sprint Store.  PLEASE HELP! We are going on vacation soon where we will be doing a tremendous amount of walking.

Also, I just ordered a new Ionic for my wife because she was so impressed with mine - when it was working - that she is wanting to move away from the Apple Watch to her own Ionic. I need a solution, please.

I figured it out I disconnected it from other phone and when I switched from my iPhone 6 to the XR my account was logged out so I logged in when it searched from the app for my ionic it asked if I wanted to pair it it allowed me to pair from the application hopefully this helpful to people in the future
