Ionic Not Syncing with Huawei Nova 2i

Hi,

Last year, I got my fitbit charge 2 but I found out it was not able to connect to my phone. Last week, I was to exited to get my Ionic and forgot to check on the device is compatible with my Huawei Nova 2i or not. After I bought it back, I found out that I can't connect the devise with my phone. I'm your diehard fan but I m so disappointed that why you still don't have the updates for apps to connect with the phone. May I know when can you come out the app? Thanks

I feel your pain mate.

But honestly I dont think they ever will.

Theyre having enough problems with even the biggest devices and are using this compatibility issue to reduce their work load.

Plus theyve now released the Versa so the Ionic will likely be grandfathered very soon.

Its a shame because its a pricey item, that clearly says 'works with Android' on the box.

Id take it back if I were you.

This can’t be accepted. It’s a shame if so. So now I need to buy a new iPhone just to use the Ionic? If so, I would rather buy their Apple Watch. Fitbit, can you please solve this?

This is what they told me by email almost a month ago:

"Upon checking on our system, we confirmed that the Huawei Nova 2i is not yet listed in our supported devices. This is the reason why your Ionic is having difficulty syncing to your mobile device.

With newer phone models, we usually do need to test them out with all of our products before we can officially say it is supported. We do add different phones to our compatibility list as often as we can, and hopefully the Huawei Nova 2i will be one of these soon."

I wouldnt hold your breath mate. Check these forums, it is 100% a hardware issue as some people are getting replacements that work flawlessly.

I would push for a replacement too, but then I actually cannot support a company that does this to so many of its customers.

Im getting a refund and will not be purchasing another fitbit. this has left a very foul taste in my mouth.

@Woodacres @Kevin2hot Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for posting the experience you have had with Ionic syncing to Huawei Nova 2i. Thanks for also contacting customer support about this.

While it is true that the Huawei Nova 2i is not listed as a supported device; the developer team is aware of the need to add new devices to the list.. There are some users who can synchronize with non-compatible devices. If your phone meets the requirement of Minimum Supported OS (Android 4.4 KitKat), you can try the tips on this helpful article about syncing.

Note that we don't guarantee that the synchronization would be will be successful as we are still testing on this phone model.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

This is really frustrating. I supposed that my Nova 2i has the connectivity issue but no, it's my Fitbit ionic because Fitbit folks are lazy to update the list of supported devices. I already have my Ionic for 2 months now and I painstakingly paired it with my old iPad that is because this device is so du*b that it can't connect to a smartphone not older than 2 years. Had I known that this watch is a pain in the *ss, I would have got myself another watch, more affordable than this piece that I couldn't use with my phone. With this, I am thinking of not supporting this brand anymore. If this can't be fixed, this would be the last Fitbit product to land on my wrist. DISAPPOINTED CUSTOMER here.

I have a Nova2i. I have found out that I need to re-install the device to my fitbit account in the phone every few days to get the sync done. It works until my fitbit is out of wifi range (eg when I leave house). Thereafters I have to unpair device from my phone, then re-pair using the 'add device' process. Takes about 5 mins but thats better than no sync I guess.
