Ionic Problems

I was looking for a heart rate monitor to use while swimming. My brother gave me an Ionic for Christmas. I was embarrassed to tell him that the heart rate monitor is disabled while swimming as he spent quite a lot on this gift! Any hope for the heart rate monitor to work for swimming in the near future? 

When I first received the Ionic, I was able to view the screen just with the flick of my wrist (setting is set to non-dominant). I was also able to tap the screen to view it. Neither of these features work any more. This is very disappointing. Is there anything I can do about this? 

Also, when swimming the stats are completely inaccurate. I set the pool length to 25 yds. I swim the same number of laps every time I swim... 100 lengths. Yet the stats show anywhere from 110-140 lengths... different every time. Is there anything i can do about this? 

Last question, when I swim, how does the Ionic calculate calories burned if it is not tracking my heart rate? Since the lengths are inaccurate, the only stat I can trust is time elapsed!

@BJK1 No idea about Fitbit’s plans, only they know but Optical heart rate monitors and water are a bit of a fudge. Water has a nasty habit of mucking up the readings (and if you sweat during exercise you’ll know about this).

Have you checked you haven’t disabled quick view - swipe left to right and make sure the setting for Screen Wake is set to Auto, not Manual.

Cant help with your swimming style affecting the way your Ionic is or isn’t detecting your lengths, sorry.

And as for calories burned, not being a swimmer I don’t know (again, sorry) but guess it’s a wonderful algorithm somewhere using time, distance and your personal details.

Thanks, lostlogik! My screen wake was set to manual. I changed it and now that feature is working properly!
