My family and I have been Fitbit uses for about 5 years now. We've purchased everything from the original Fitbit, Blaze, Surge, HR, and the newest Ionics. We've been very happy with our legacy of Fitbits, but the Ionics have been somewhat troublesome. In the last 2 years, we've gone through 3 different Ionics (2 for me and 1 for my wife). In each of the first two Ionics, the screens refused to come up. It's been frustrating to say the least. My latest Ionic is about to go out and I'm beyond my warranty so there's nothing that Fitbit is willing to do. I get it, but as a loyal Fitbit wearer is it too much to expect to have a single fitness watch last a few years? I'm conflicted because I love the Ionic, but after 19 million plus steps in my profile I'm considering another brand. Thoughts?

When I do google searches on problems with other trackers, I find they have just a many problems, if not more. Thought? If you love the Ionic, consider buying from an authorized retailer such as Sam's Club or Best Buy that offers a 2 or 3 year extended warranty on the tracker. There will probably be Christmas sales on them if they aren't already.

I wanted to stay with FitBit and I would have had they offered something. Anything really, but they chose not to offer anything. I think it's a cop out to expect FitBit purchasers to pay for an extended warranty on a product that should last at least a few years. After a lot of research, I went with the Garmin FR series. I'm very satisfied thus far and more impressed with the great detail my Garmin provides with every single workout.
Thank you for your comments.

Sorry to see you go, @JMJAAHernandez, but best of luck with your new tracker. Garmin, you probably noticed, has the same 1-year warranty period that Fitbit has, so they aren't covered for "a few years" either.

You got me there. However, the screen issue with Ionic was more rampant than any of the issues I've researched with the FR.
I will say that my wife is still an Ionic user and her Ionic is still ticking.
