Ionic Stopped Working after being in a swimming pool

I went swimming at a hotel pool with my kids back in March and when I got out of the pool my Ionic was no longer displaying anything. I thought that maybe it had died as I have gone swimming with it on many times without any issues. I dried it off when I got back to the hotel room and then plugged it in overnight. When I woke up in the morning the watch was extremely hot and still nothing displaying. I tried doing a factory reset based on suggestions I found online but the factory reset didn't even cause the vibration to happen. I then waited a couple of months and now tried again to plug it in to charge and nothing is happening as well as doing the factory reset again and again nothing happened. Are there any other suggestions? I have had the watch for a couple of years and really like it but did not assume that it would stop working after only a couple of years and do not really want to spend that kind of money on a watch every 2 years that should last longer than that.

Not much you can do other than contacting support. It almost certainly has flooded. Even just condensation from the water can kill the electronics. Happened to a Versa I had early last year. swimming/body surfing in the sea killed that one.

I'm not suggesting you did this - but NEVER press any buttons whilst in the water or even when the device is wet. These things are not waterproof to the extent of a scuba diving watch/computer - and not even rated for snorkelling. The button seals will be a weak point for water ingress.

To confirm water has entered the device you can place the device upside down on a plate in an oven and turn the oven up to NO MORE than 50 degree Celsius (120 Fahrenheit) and leave it in there for approx. 20 or 30 minutes.

When you remove the warm device check if there is any visible condensation in the centre sensor green LED window on the back. This will indicate if it was flooded.

Go easy with the heat as too hot will damage the electronics - I guess that doesn't matter really. Yours is dead.

😉

This is how I confirmed my Versa had water in it.

Suggest you have a conversation with Fitbit support. Not sure they will offer any goodwill replacement - but you need to have the conversation.
