@cath1971 I hope you're doing well! Thanks for posting your questions about Ionic syncing functionality.

I've seen Ionic syncing functionality working properly for most users. I've seen some experiencing difficulties with this as they are using an incompatible device to sync. Please check if you are using a compatible device.

Also, there are some troubleshooting steps for syncing you can try to get this sorted if you happen to experience this. Please check them out here.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Ionic has the very same syncing issues.  Absolutely horrible performance for a significant number of users.

Santifitbit and a few others like to claim that most Ionic users have no problem, and that the rest are mostly due to "incompatible devices".  It may be very true that most Ionic users have no problem, but anyone who follows these boards for very long will know that quite a number of Ionic users have reported problems.

I personally have had the problem now for months ... the entire time I've owned it.  The syncing problem is horrendous, and has occurred with TWO different SUPPORTED PHONES.running TWO different SUPPORTED LEVELS of TWO different SUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEMS (Windows Phone, and Android).   It also fails regularly trying to synch via my Windows laptop, and my Windows tablet.

It is clearly a Fitbit problem, not a phone problem, and not a user problem.  I've owned several Fitbits before the Ionic.   I know the drill.  I know what I'm doing.

I can go a week or more, trying to coax it into syncing.  Eventually, admittedly, it usually eventually works.   But I'm talking a LOT of attempts, a LOT of stopping/starting Ionic, phone, Bluetooth, wifi, turning off all other Bluetooth devices (that's my personal favorite .... like THAT would be an acceptable solution???), etc etc over a number of days, a week or more at times, to get it to synch.

And that would be OK if ... IF .... it fixed the problem.   But it doesn't.  Eventually (and it rarely takes long .... anything from the very next synch to maybe a few days only) it once again fails to synch ... and again for days at a time.

The only surefire way to get it to work has been to do a full factory reset of the Ionic, with all that a factory reset entails.   You lose all your unsynced stats, you lose any downloaded music, any downloaded apps, any custom watch face .... everything.  You reinstall the original firmware, followed by a reinstall of the latest firmware, followed by any apps, music, and watchface.

And EVEN THAT would be OK, if it fixed the bloody problem.  But it doesn't, not for long anyway.  I've done several of those, and it has failed again, before long, just like with every other "fix".

You will find a number of users posting their pet little techniques for getting their Ionic to synch.  In practice, I've tried them all.   Occasionally one of them has worked to get it syncing.   But when the syncing fails again, that pet technique has always failed me once again.

So, you could be one pf the lucky ones who gets a good Ionic.  Maybe.  Or you could be one of the unlucky ones like me who gets a lemon.

Good luck with your decision.

Hope it works out for you. But I would suggest if you start having problems and it is within the 30 days, take it back for a refund and look elsewhere for a fitness tracker.

My mother bought an IONIC in February 2018, in March it died, contacted support after doing all the troubleshooting, Fitbit sent another one, and at the beginning of May, it also died.

As of right now, she had to send the second one back so Fitbit can view it and as of today she still has not heard anything from them.

I am hoping they will send a working replacement.

I was looking at getting a Versa, but after the problems she is having, as well as many on here, I am not going to risk it.

Again, I hope yours works out for you.

I hope it works for you.  Best of luck.   I'm going to try to coax Fitbit into dropping their "it must be you/your phone" stance and replace this lemon of mine.  Perhaps I'll get lucky too.
