I'm sure the Ionic will be fine for some folks, but many of us small-wristed women have been waiting for a smaller faced Blaze for a long time now. It would have been nice if Ionic came in a smaller sized face along with this first iteration. I will not be upgrading from my Charge2.

It's a little difficult to fit that much technology, especially a 4 day battery, into a smaller device. And I think the 4 day battery is what is going to push this to the top of the market. That's why they offer other trackers.....

I have a Blaze and super small wrists. I found that the slim strap made a big difference in the look of the watch on me. The ionic doesn't look as wide as the Blaze.

That'd be a good idea. I guess it depends on how much smaller (and if they'd do that). When rewatching the video last night, it seemed like a lot of the people in the video were women.. and it didn't look too bad. It did look a bit bulky on a few of them but looked alright on a few of the others. It did look much better on the men's wrists though.

I think a skinnier band would help with that bulk a lot. Hopefully there will be some nice affordable slim band options ( unlike the Blaze which is a extra 100$ for a skinny band )

Agreed on screen size, but if the exploded diagram on the product page is accurate, they could have made it smaller, IF they dont have critical components in the metal bezel area.
For the size, i'd actually prefer they move the FITBIT logo to the metal bezel and make the screen larger.
I am a Blaze user, and the Blaze itself is perfect size for my wrist, its the metal band and enclosure that makes it almost too big. I'd like to see more side by side pics w/ Blaze and Ionic.

For the number of screen pixels (348 x 250), the screen could be smaller. Screen has roughly the same number of pixels as the smaller 38mm Apple Watch (340x272), but overall dimensions the Ionic is a little bigger and thicker than 42mm AW.
There are some pics of internals on DCRainmaker review. And this one from Fitbit:
Looks possible to make the Ionic case smaller, but they didn't for some reason.

I was wondering about that myself. I have the Blaze and a small wrist but I find it fine with the more flexible straps like the leather ones.

Is there any possibility of the Ionic being produced with a smaller face? I love my Charge 2 HR but I don't really fancy anything bigger on my wrist. It's the only thing putting me off the Ionic.

same number of pixels, but (maybe) bigger
think to old people 🙂
and some (even) young want Google Maps on the Ionic, which will be not possible on a smaller display 🙂 🙂

I have to assume that a 4+ day battery can't really fit into much smaller of a size factor if they also want the rest of it there. And to be honest. I am kinda hoping for a slightly larger screen than the Blaze - the Blaze is nice but I'd actually like a slightly (Maybe 1/6 of an inch) bigger size factor...

Believe me, its never too big.
I have small 17cm wrist.
It fits my wife also perfect and she is small women with height 160cm and 54 kgs.
The Ionic is small light and thin. A bit like a casio watch in the 80's size.. 😎

Matter of personal opinion. My wife (similar height/weight as yours) thought my Blaze was too big, and she thinks my 42mm AW is too big (which you can see is smaller than Ionic). She would only wear the 38mm size.

I bought the narrow band for my blaze thinking it would fit better, principal based on if you want to wear a wider ring you have to go up in size. I thought that the narrower band would fit better, because I need an extra large band. Nope, the narrower band was a bit shorter than the standard band, now it sits not being used. I hope the Ionic band is narrower than the Blaze. I did not like the frame on the Blaze, the more you removed it, over time it got loser. I was terrified of losing my blaze. I just pray after everything I went through to plunk down the cash for the Ionic it fits.

It does look "longer" though, the height from top to bottom? and I need to see in person, because it looks to be too flat and "tall" or "long" to wrap 'round my li'l wrist. 😞 I HOPE I'm wrong!)

You need to go to Amazon! Forget the $$$$ for a slim band from fitbit, theres soooooo many cool options that flatter tiny wrists!
